NEW YORK — AORTA Films is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a series of film compilations and events running through March 26.
First, there’s AORTAlive, a slate of digital programming that includes live workshops, panel discussions, and web performances.
Following that, AORTA is presenting BEDDED, its biannual online queer porn film festival, featuring domestic and international creators.
“Hey Everybody: Let’s Make A Porno!” is “an immersive performance where audiences engage in exercises to deepen their understanding of the adult industry, consent practices, and the craft of making porn,” said a rep. Audience members also contribute ideas to help create a scene and later serve as the live audience at the shoot.
Finally, AORTA will debut a new series, “Haunted.”
The rep described “Haunted” as a “queer, erotic horror project” consisting of a “central feature film and seven pornographic shorts that expand its narrative through explicit scenes.” “Haunted” will also be the first installment of AORTA’s “Induction Series,” which the rep said is “a program designed to spark conversations about queer pornography as a vital cultural instigator and significant art form.”
Mahx Capacity, AORTA’s creative director, enthused about the celebration.
“AORTA films was born out of a desire for queer and trans people to see themselves reflected on screen with reverence, respect, and desire,” said Capacity. “As our bodies, genders, and queerness face growing threats, we believe that standing strong in our full human capacity — not just for survival, but for pleasure — is a charged, radical act. Refusing to believe that our assimilation will pacify fascism, queer porn pushes back against far-right ideology and holds the line: we exist, we’re not going anywhere, and joyous pleasure is our human right.”
