Fangear.vip to Launch ‘Influencer’ Magazine

Fangear.vip to Launch 'Influencer' Magazine

PHILADELPHIA — Fangear.vip will launch a new monthly print magazine, Influencer, on April 1.

Influencer was described by Fangear’s Director of Product Acquisition Adam Moore as “a full color, monthly print magazine featuring news, entertainment, photo spreads and more.”

Influencer, he added, “can be loosely described as a cross between People Magazine, Playboy and the Huffington Post. The Influencer is definitely going to be fun and entertaining, but we are going to cover the important issues as well, from mental health to abusive relationships to activism and #MeToo. We are going to get real stories from the personalities that live them.”

A rep touted the inclusive nature of the magazine, saying, “it doesn’t cost anything to be included in the Influencer. Cover stories, pictorials, and all other content are based on what’s trending and important — and you don’t have to be a Fangear Model to be included either.”

“It’s not about the number of followers you have or how popular you are — inclusion is for everyone, male and female, with an active social media presence,” the rep added.

A one-year subscription to Influencer magazine is free for a limited time. According to the company, over 1,800 users have subscribed.

Added Moore, “it’s not always about the money — for us, it’s about awareness and building an audience.”

Netflix to Premiere Pornhub Documentary ‘Money Shot’

Netflix to Premiere Pornhub Documentary 'Money Shot'

LOS ANGELES — Netflix will premiere original documentary “Money Shot: The Pornhub Story” on March 15.

The documentary is produced by Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions and directed by Suzanne Hillinger.

According to Netflix’s description, the film surveys how Pornhub amassed “a massive audience while the company made billions of dollars — but it also became embroiled in allegations including non-consensual material and trafficking on the site.As anti-trafficking organizations seek justice for victims, can the online giant protect those from whom they profit, or is this a new wave of censorship for adult performers making consensual porn?”

Director Hillinger explained through a statement that her documentary “requires us to grapple with what sexuality and consent means when billion-dollar internet platforms thrive on user-generated content. Who has, and who should have, the power in these environments? Our hope is that this film generates important conversations about sex and consent, both on the internet and out in the world.”

Performer, creator and writer Siri Dahl, who appears in “Money Shot,” told XBIZ that she “had a really positive interviewing for the documentary. While I am excited for my industry colleagues to watch it, more than anything I’m excited that millions of Netflix viewers will get to see a more nuanced take on the adult industry.

Republican Admits Ultimate Goal of Arkansas ‘Age Verification’ Bill is Federal Law

Republican Admits Ultimate Goal of Arkansas 'Age Verification' Bill is Federal Law

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A Republican state senator in Arkansas who introduced a bill last month requiring age verification before “entering a website offering pornography” admitted that his state initiative is only a stepping stone towards the ultimate goal of a federal mandate.

Sen. Tyler Dees (R-Siloam Springs) made the unusually candid admission today to Motherboard tech reporter Samantha Cole, who regularly covers issues around adult content online.

“My hope is that we protect children and their innocence in [the] state of Arkansas and then send a message across the country that we need something similar built into federal law as well,” Dees told Cole regarding his Senate Bill 66, which proposes a “Protection of Minors from Distribution of Harmful Material Act” and is co-sponsored Sen. Jim Petty (R-Van Buren).

The proposed legislation is a copycat version of Louisiana’s Act 440, a new law enacted in January and championed by a religious anti-porn activist Republican legislator.

Dees — also an executive in a poultry plant that provides Walmart and Sam’s Club who says he spends his free time “in Bible study” — told Motherboard that SB 66 was  “inspired by many constituents in my district who are concerned about the growing problems related to pornography and the advancement of technology and devices around our children.”

The state senator also referred to a supposed “explosion” in the ability of “children” to access online content.

As XBIZ reported, Dees’ proposed bill requires “a digitized identification card” to prove the age of anyone from Arkansas trying to enter “any website with over 23.33% of its material meeting the pornography description.”

The bill also “claims that pornography is creating a public health crisis and contributes to the hyper-sexualization of minors,” KARK reported.

The bill also includes the state senators’ definition of what kinds of material would constitute “pornography.”

Republicans throughout the country are currently seeking to outlaw all adult content by overturning the 1973 “Miller Test” differentiating First Amendment-protected sexual material from illegal “obscene” material produced to appeal to “a prurient interest.”
