Twitter Owner Elon Musk Announces ‘Creator Monetization for All Forms of Content’

Twitter Owner Elon Musk Announces 'Creator Monetization for All Forms of Content'

LOS ANGELES — Twitter owner Elon Musk announced today that he will soon implement “creator monetization for all forms of content” on the platform.

Musk announced the development via tweet this afternoon, on a thread that also included the announcement that soon Twitter will “add ability to attach long-form text to tweets, ending absurdity of notepad screenshots.”

Asked by a user about the timeline for these changes, Musk replied that details would be available in two weeks.

Several mainstream media outlets, including the Washington Post, had speculated in the last few weeks that Musk was working “on paid-video feature with ‘high’ risk” content, which was understood to include adult content.

On Tuesday, the Post reported on a leaked internal memo showing that Twitter was “working on a feature that would let people post videos and charge users to view them, with the company taking a cut of the proceeds.”

Twitter Product Trust team, the Post continued, had “identified the risk as high,” citing “risks related to copyrighted content, creator/user trust issues, and legal compliance.” The email also said “the feature will undergo a brief internal review on those issues before moving forward.”

Although the email did not “specify what types of videos creators might post,” the Post noted, “it does raise the concern that users might post copyrighted content or use the feature to scam others. One Twitter employee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal plans, said it seemed like a feature that would probably be used at least partly for adult content.”

UK: New Tory Government Backpedals From Plan to Censor ‘Legal But Harmful’ Content

LONDON — New U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has indicated that his Tory government will backpedal from controversial language in the proposed Online Safety Bill, which would have required online services to remove content that some MPs consider “legal but harmful,” including most pornography.

This week, several U.K. news outlets — including The Sun, a Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid that backs the Conservatives — reported that Sunak “will bring back the online safety bill this month, but will ditch the ‘legal but harmful’ clause amid freedom of speech fears.”

Sunak — the second Tory politician attempting to form a government following the collapse of Boris Johnson’s government earlier this summer and the non-starter debacle of Liz Truss’ attempt — has “ordered Culture Secretary Michelle Donelan to get to work” on bringing the Online Safety Bill back to the House of Commons “with a string of amendments.”

Sunak has told insiders he “wants to make the promised new laws a ‘priority’ for his new government,” the Sun reported.

A ‘Broken Piece of Legislation’

Free Speech and digital rights advocates around the world have denounced provisions of the bill as vague, apt to be misinterpreted and likely to lead to broad self-censorship by overcautious service providers and platforms.

Yesterday, the U.K.’s Center for Data Innovation issued the following statement from Senior Policy Analyst Kir Nuthi:

“I want to commend Prime Minister Sunak and his cabinet for committing to remove some of the worst provisions in the bill that would limit free expression. The requirements for certain online platforms to monitor and remove legal but harmful content were too broad and risked politicizing which content would be restricted in the UK. Removing this provision from the scope of the Online Safety Bill is a step toward protecting free expression.

“Unfortunately, the Online Safety Bill still needs work. Until an amended Online Safety Bill protects encrypted communications, the Online Safety Bill will continue to be a broken piece of legislation.”

A Pet Project of Vocal Anti-Porn and Anti-Sex-Work Crusaders

As XBIZ reported, in August the controversial Online Safety Bill was removed from the House of Commons schedule.

The last debate before the postponement included a motion by anti-porn activist and Labour MP Dame Diana Johnson, chair of the Home Affairs Committee, to insert amendments that, in her words, “would place a legal duty on online platforms hosting pornographic content to combat and remove illegal content through the specific and targeted measure of verifying the age and consent of every individual featured in pornographic content on their sites.”

Had Johnson’s amendments passed, they would have implicitly created a legal category of “pornography websites,” which would then have been subject to record-keeping mandates.

Such mandates could potentially also force open platforms such as Twitter or Reddit, which tolerate adult content, to reevaluate their content policies in order to avoid being categorized as “pornography websites” and thereby forced to keep records of the age and identity of anyone appearing on any piece of sexual content posted on the site.

The Online Safety Bill, adult industry attorney Maxine Lynn explained, would also allow “an arm of the U.K. government to define certain legal speech as ‘harmful,’ and requires social media sites, search engines, and similar platforms to establish and publish procedures for dealing with that ‘harmful’ speech.”

These procedures “may include removal, deleting, and hiding of content, among other things,” she added. “It also requires age verification for pornography.”

According to Lynn, governments “flagging categories of legal speech as harmful, and requiring the policing of such by Big Tech, threatens the existence of free speech, and certainly, the adult industry.”

Pioneering Argentinian Adult Director Victor Maytland Passes Away at 75

BUENOS AIRES — Pioneering Argentinian adult director Victor Maytland passed away on Wednesday. He was 75.

Maytland suffered a stroke last year, and had recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Local reports unanimously characterized Maytland as “the emblematic figure of Argentine porn cinema” and “el pionero” (the pioneer).

“Despite being legal since 1984, Argentine adult cinema had very few well-known directors until him,” award-winning mainstream producer and film historian Axel Kuschevatzky told XBIZ. “Maytland was a maverick, someone constantly swimming against the tide of everything that was happening in the country. He made spoofs, porn reality shows, hired John Wayne Bobbitt as an emcee and created even hardcore talent competitions. His eclectic career has no equivalent in the region.”

Performer and friend Lorena Mexy told Infobae that Maytland was “a brilliant person” and said the director, with whom she worked for a long time, passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and relatives.

A Towering Figure in a Complicated Local Industry

Maytland started out in the early 1970s as a politically committed filmmaker, and under his birth name, Roberto Sena, was part of the Grupo Cine Liberación movement. He worked alongside noted Argentine arthouse (Fernando “Pino” Solanas) and commercial (Armando Bó) filmmakers, and also had an extensive career behind the scenes on popular TV shows.

Maytland single-handedly attempted to kickstart the commercial Argentine porn industry in the 1990s with now-cult parody titles “Los Pinjapiedras” (a “Flintstones” spoof) and “Las Tortugas Pinjas” (a “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” takeoff).

With around 150 titles to his credit, Maytland also developed erotic reality TV show “Expedición Sex” (2001), a staple of Argentina’s signature XXX cable channel Afrodita. In 2007, Maytland was hired by Los Angeles-based CineXlatino to develop pioneering Spanish language tube sites Cine 69 (straight content), Puticlub (trans) and Latin Puppies (gay).

“I never got rich with porn,” he told Infobae during a career retrospective interview in the 2010s, “but I made good money for a while. Today, nobody can make money out of porn over here. Which Argentine person would pay a peso to watch porno? I did all I could, and people refuse to pay. You can’t change people’s daily habits.”

“I’m tired of giving it away. You wanna watch one of my movies?” he asked his audience with resignation. “Buy it. It’s simple.”

‘Country Trap’ Band Honest Family Outlaws Score Will Ryder’s ‘Love, Sex & Music’

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Country trap band Honest Family Outlaws provides the soundtrack to the Will Ryder-helmed Adam & Eve feature “Love, Sex & Music.”

“Love, Sex & Music” takes place around the country music business in Nashville.

“When director Will Ryder was desperately seeking the perfect song for the production of his feature movie ‘Love, Sex & Music,’” a rep noted, “he ventured into a dusty bar in Tujunga, California and ran smack dab into a group of outlaws — Honest Family Outlaws that is.”

According to Ryder, Honest Family Outlaws were onstage, “absolutely killing it when they launched into a great country song they wrote called ‘On the Radio,’ and it clicked immediately that it was the perfect song for my movie.”

“On the Radio,” however, was already licensed, so but Ryder, says Honest Family Outlaws’ guitarist Adam E., “was relentless and convinced us to go into the recording studio and create some other songs for his movie,” including new compositions “Right into Your Arms” and “Born Country.”

Co-producer Scott David said that when he and Ryder heard the songs, they “knew we had the missing element to enhance the script and bring the characters and story to life.”

Adam & Eve Pictures’ head of production Rachel V. agreed. “We trust Will’s vision and will greenlight all of his musical decisions in the future because ‘Love, Sex & Music’ is very entertaining and the music is key,” Rachel V. said.

“Love, Sex & Music” stars September Reign and Vanna Bardot, and co-stars Whitney Wright, Nina Elle, Misty Stone, Madison Summers, Samantha Lexi, Zerella Skies, Cecilia Taylor and April Love, Jay Romero, Dorian Del Isla, Joshua Lewis, Rusty Nails, James Bartholet and Frank Bukkwyd.

Tiffany Tatum: XBIZ Europas FPOTY Reflects on International Stardom

Tiffany Tatum radiated triumphant bliss as she lit up the stage after being crowned Female Performer of the Year during the 2022 XBIZ Europa Awards. In front of a roaring crowd at the swanky Metropol in Berlin, she celebrated reaching the zenith of international adult stardom, thanking her agency, Brillbabes, and smiling fondly at industry bestie Amirah Adara, who was clapping extra enthusiastically in the crowd.

A dynamo of creative energy and passion, Tatum has delivered acclaimed on-screen performances for every major studio in Europe. With razor-sharp wits, a business-savvy mind and a positive work ethic, she knows the value of showing up to work with the right attitude, consistent excellence and matching words to deeds.

Always dressed to impress with a self-possessed poise that is cool, calm and collected, Tatum smoothly dispensed hard-won wisdom during many an XBIZ Berlin panel, while hobnobbing with major players across the spectrum at several networking events.

Tatum’s in-person dazzle matches her social media sizzle for a simple reason: authenticity is at her core. It is also why hundreds of thousands of fans flock to her online.

Now, she opens up about her career and future ambitions in this exclusive interview.

XBIZ: Tell us what inspired you to become an adult performer.

Tatum: I was 19 years old and working at a restaurant, yet I felt like I was destined for something different in life. Something that would make me better and recognized across the world. I was also really into girls and had special feelings for them that I wanted to explore openly, which is ultimately what led me to my agency. I found them almost by accident and my whole life changed completely. For the first time ever, I felt comfortable in my body and in my soul. I felt that I had arrived where I needed to be — and where I am now, doing great.

XBIZ: What are the biggest ways you’ve grown as a person and performer over the past five years?

Tatum: I became even braver. I believe in myself in every way. No matter what happens, I’m ready and I can move on.

XBIZ: Discuss your work with Brillbabes and how your dynamic has evolved with them.

Tatum: Brillbabes is one of the best things that has happened to me in my life. Ever since I found them and started to work with the best team in the business, I have felt very close to them, from the beginning. They really trusted me and believed in me all the time. I have been fortunate not to have many bad experiences in the industry but whenever I did, they were by my side and helped me in every way they could. I am so grateful for them; they’ve become my second “parents” and I couldn’t wish for anyone better in my career.

XBIZ: What studio-shot movies or scenes were you most proud of this past year?

Tatum: It is very hard to name just a few, but the biggest were with Pierre Woodman, “Academy” for Rocco Siffredi — and honestly every scene I filmed for him. I’m also really proud of my Dorcel scenes, my Brazzers shoot with Jay and Danny and my first Tushy anal with Christian, as well as shooting for Parasited and Hentaied.

XBIZ: Can we expect any original productions and ventures?

Tatum: Finally, it is on the way. I was very busy these past few years at work and I did not yet feel that I had the right people around me to make my own productions. Now I have the greatest photographer and social media manager by my side and we are working so hard on the future. We want to create something very special and I hope we can bring something new to the business.

XBIZ: Describe your strategy for time management and balancing your many responsibilities.

Tatum: I am trying to manage my time better and better. There are so many jobs and I can’t say “no” to them, so I am still learning how to do my best because I feel a big responsibility for everything I do.

XBIZ: How do you handle social media engagement with fans?

Tatum: I am very bad with social media because I don’t like to spend my whole day on the phone, but the feeling of empowerment and positivity I get from my fans is unbelievable, so I am trying to be more and more active on social media. Did I mention I have the best social media manager?

XBIZ: Talk about your close friends in the industry and how you uplift one another.

Tatum: Amirah Adara is my soulmate, my sister and my partner in crime. I think we complement each other very well. We listen to and respect each other, which is the most important thing in love, friendship and business partnership for me. We actually created our own production team called Toxic Angels, and now we are finally ready to share more about what it is and why we made it. Not only am I very lucky to have her, I also know the nicest people in the industry. I can’t list everyone, but I hope everyone knows I love them.

XBIZ: What was it like sharing your wisdom on XBIZ Berlin panels and winning Female Performer of the Year at the Europas this year?

Tatum: Four years ago, I began aiming to become a big name in the business. I knew that if I worked hard and stayed humble, I could be one of the best. And it turns out that dreams do come true. I felt so respected at the show and I was really glad that people know how hard I work and how hard Brillbabes works. This award is also for my agency, because if they were not there for me, it never would have happened. Thank you so much to everyone again and again, I couldn’t be happier.

XBIZ: Discuss your goals for the coming year.

Tatum: I have so many plans, like usual, but right now I’m focusing on my own NFT project, which is almost ready. I can’t wait to reveal what we created. The second thing is my own website, but I do not want to say anything else. Just be ready because we are coming! I am also very interested in doing something outside of the industry.
