WOW Tech Group Touts New Tech Media Library, Online Academy

NEW YORK — WOW Tech Group has announced improvements to services it provides to its network of retailers: the WOW Tech Media Library — “the one-stop shop” for all marketing assets — and the WOW Tech Academy, featuring new interactive content from certified sex educators to further improve knowledge of tech brands and product ranges.

“Partners now can use the brand-new Tech Media Library to access all B2B media assets 24/7,” said a rep, who described the Library as “an online media hub that houses valuable resources that retailers can access after logging in, and by using keywords and categories to search through a wide range of assets.”

Partners may download these assets directly from the Library, which also offers the option to download assets formatted for print or online, “saving time for retailers and making daily business and product launches much easier,” according to the rep.

WOW Tech Brand Manager Marius Nieland said, “We believe that the new WOW Tech Media Library will greatly improve B2B marketing workflows with all our partners.”

To use the Media Library, retailers will need new login credentials; retail partners can sign-up for a new account here.

The WOW Tech Academy launched today and includes interactive video content that aims to sharpen sales knowledge, teach the key features and USPs of top products from certified instructors and promote the group’s range.

Nieland explained that they believe “that the engaging and interactive content from the WOW Tech Academy will help all our retail partners improve their sexual health and wellness expertise and boost sales of all products in the WOW Tech house of brands.”

Retail and distribution partners can register for Academy access by contacting their preferred account manager.

Matthew Camp Loses Home in Arson Attack; Industry Rallies

Matthew Camp Loses Home in Arson Attack; Industry Rallies

LOS ANGELES — The industry has rallied around performer and content creator Matthew Camp, whose home was lost to an apparent arson attack last week. A GoFundMe page has been established to help him and a housemate re-establish their lives.

“In the early morning of January 14, Matthew’s home… was targeted in an apparent hate crime where an unknown person poured gasoline on the front porch, creating an explosion that woke Matthew up [and] giving him moments to get himself and [a] roommate out in safety,” notes the GoFundMe text. “The entire home eventually burned for [over] three hours, leaving no personal possessions salvageable inside. Camera footage caught the attack and the perpetrator is being sought for attempted murder by the authorities.”

“Outside of his work as a queer content creator, activist and artist, Matt has spent years empowering and supporting sex workers, the queer community and outsiders in need,” the text reads. “This is our chance to help repay him for his decades of care.”

Camp is the 2020 XBIZ Cam Awards winner for “Best Male Premium Social Media Star.”

“This is what hate looks like… they poured gasoline on my home while I was sleeping and set it ablaze,” Camp wrote on Twitter. “I survived. I will not be silenced.”

The performer later expressed gratitude for the support from fans and industry colleagues.

“I know it may be silly [to] say but seriously all of this love. Really, truly, it’s more than I expected, it’s changed my life,” he said.

Jamie Jett Guests on the "Jiggy Jaguar Show"

LOS ANGELES— Jamie Jett was the guest on KJAG Radio’s “Jiggy Jaguar Show,” now viewable online.

The Midwestern radio program features news and public affairs, entertainment, political talk, comedy and in-depth interviews with a wide variety of guests.

“I had a great time talking to Jiggy about my first three months in adult, while I shot my first scenes and finished university a little early,” said Jett.

“We chatted about my vices from college, particularly kinky group sex at underground rock shows, and how public threesomes were really my intro to professional porn,” Jett added.

The pair also also chatted about the new performer’s “very serious dreams of law school, and my not-so-serious schemes for a niche goth-porn site called JettFlix.”

“Jamie Jett is such a natural talent,” raved host Jiggy Jaguar (a.k.a. James Lowe of Transmedia World Wide). “She can do porn, talk radio, etc. Such a great young talent”

Daily Beast Profiles OnlyFans Performer Fired From Taco Bell

LOS ANGELES — The Daily Beast’s Marlow Stern has profiled performer and content creator Lonna Wells, who was recently fired from her job at a Taco Bell in Newport, Arkansas when a customer allegedly identified her as an adult performer.

Wells’ plight follows on the heels of the controversy surrounding Lauren Kwei, a New York-based paramedic who turned to OnlyFans to help make ends meet during the pandemic, and was subsequently outed by the New York Post. A profile of Kwei in Rolling Stone last month went viral and prompted a response from U.S. Rep. (NY-14) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who tweeted “Sex work is work.”

“The Daily Beast reviewed pay stubs confirming her employment and corroborated her story with her husband, who is very supportive of her sex work, as well as another employee, who wished to remain anonymous due to fear of retaliation,” wrote Stern. “The firing took Wells by surprise, she says, because she’d even disclosed her sex work to her manager… during the interview process and was told that it wouldn’t pose a problem.”

Stern noted “multiple calls and emails to Taco Bell’s corporate office were not returned.”

Wells explained she began stripping in 2010 and stopped three years later when she married and became pregnant. She returned to adult in 2017 to raise extra money to support her family — largely through Pornhub and OnlyFans — but recently stepped away due to COVID-19 safety concerns and took the job at Taco Bell as a stopgap measure.

“We are tired of watching our community of marginalized workers being shamed and shunned for their time spent working in adult,” Alana Evans of Adult Performance Artists Guild (APAG) told Stern. “During a time where so many are becoming adult content creators just to put food on their table due to COVID, it’s shameful that Taco Bell would take this stance.”

“This is why APAG is taking our fight against occupational discrimination to Washington, D.C. We have had contact with numerous senator’s offices, including AOC, to push to have our occupation added to the list of protected classes. This goal is at the top of the list for our union. We are seeking to have this implemented at a federal level.”

Notable media figures including Monica Lewinsky and journalist Yashar Ali have rallied to Lonna Wells’ cause. Find her OnlyFans profile here.

Rashida Jones’s Battle With Sex Workers Reveals a New Era of Internet Censorship

Rashida Jones’s Battle With Sex Workers Reveals a New Era of Internet Censorship

A years-old controversy surrounding the Jones documentary “Hot Girls Wanted” exemplifies the widening gulf between who gets heard online and who doesn’t.

At the beginning of this year, news circulated that Rashida Jones, Meryl Streep, and Laverne Cox had all signed on to produce a “documentary adaptation” of Sell/Buy/Date, a one-woman play about the sex industrywritten and performed by Sarah Jones. A few days later, Cox announced that she would no longer be involved, since she was “not in an emotional place to deal with the outrage by some around my participation in this project.”

What happened? Between the two announcements, prominent voices in the world of sex work launched a wave of protest around Streep and Rashida Jones’s involvement. Both have a dubious reputation within the sex-work community, and the latter in particular has been dogged by criticism ever since she co-produced the 2015 documentary Hot Girls Wanted.

The movie and its docuseries sequel, Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On, were meant to be sympathetic portrayals of sex workers. But as I reported in 2017, Jones and her co-producers, Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus, alienated their subjects by carelessly exposing private information and recycling content without their full consent. After that piece came out, Gradus and Bauer gave multiple interviews attacking the subjects’ concerns, while Jones has never made amends with the community she continues to document.

Larry Flynt Wins Latest Battle Against California Casino Rules

Larry Flynt Wins Latest Battle Against California Casino Rules

Federal judge says rule preventing casino owners from operating out-of-state should be revisited.

LOS ANGELES—Hustler magnate Larry Flynt took home a partial victory last week is his nearly four-year fight to overturn a California state regulation that prohibits casino owners from owning or investing in gambling establishments in other states. In June of 2020, United States District Judge John Mendez blocked the state’s attempt to throw out Flynt’s ongoing lawsuit. But on January 14, Mendez granted Flynt an even more significant win.

The 1986 law was designed to keep organized crime elements out of California’s then-two-year-old gambling industry. But Flynt has contended in his lawsuit that the rule is “archaic” due to strict regulations in California and other states designed to banish the criminal syndicates, such as the Mafia, who once held a tight grip on the gambling business nationwide.
