ASACP Names Fleshlight, Safenames, FUBAR Webmasters as October Sponsors

LOS ANGELES — ASACP has announced Fleshlight, Safenames and FUBAR Webmasters as its Featured Sponsors for October.

ASACP’s Featured Sponsors “rank among the industry’s most respected companies and serve as excellent examples of how corporate responsibility, ethical operation, and basic proactive measures all help to protect minors and other online viewers from accidental exposure to age-restricted materials,” a rep explained.

Executive Director Tim Henning said that the nonprofit association relies on the ongoing support it receives from companies and organizations that assume “a bold, leadership role in the fight to keep minors out of and away from adult-oriented materials.”

“ASACP’s sponsors are committed to online child safety and take steps to protect the innocence of youth, such as restricting access to their apps and websites,” Henning said. “By supporting the association and its initiatives, our sponsors enable us to work with content publishers and other stakeholders to raise the industry’s awareness of relevant issues, while keeping pace with the constantly evolving range of digital media platforms.”

“The support we receive from our sponsors is the key to our long-term success,” Henning said. “It is only through our partnerships and programs that the association can truly improve the safety of children’s daily digital lives.”

All of ASACP’s tools and services are provided free of charge due to sponsor support.

“ASACP recognizes Fleshlight, Safenames and FUBAR Webmasters as October’s Featured Sponsors, honoring these market leaders’ continued commitment to making the internet safer for children and their families,” the rep stated.

Fleshlight

An ASACP Corporate Sponsor since 2007, Fleshlight and its parent Interactive Life Forms, are established leaders in the field of sexual health and fulfillment and serve as a positive example for other adult novelty companies to follow. At the forefront of the development of haptic devices, Fleshlight bridges traditional novelties with the newest technology to bolster connections between people around the world.

According to the company, in an era where vibrators have been championed as a means for female sexual freedom and enjoyment, male sex products have remained something of a dirty, unwanted cousin to their female counterparts. By providing high-quality, discreet and tasteful products, the company hopes to help change these perceptions and to bring the topic of male sexuality into the public discourse — with a focus on providing adult novelties to adults only.

Safenames

An ASACP Corporate Sponsor since 2020, Safenames keeps companies one step ahead by protecting their online brand, data, revenue and reputation.

Founded in 1999 and based in the U.K., Safenames is a privately owned company with established operations around the globe, serving as a leading provider of global domain management, brand protection, SSL, hosting and cyber security services for more than 20 years.

Safenames’ comprehensive suite of partnerships and managed web-based tools enables its customers to effectively protect their domain names, trademarks, and online brand identities across the globe.

“In a fluid digital age, Safenames enables clients to make their mark on the world by providing a safe and secure framework where their brands are protected,” said Safenames’ CEO Adan McManus. “We engage, we connect, and we share our knowledge to help deliver our client’s aspirations as we strive to be the top service provider in protecting and securing digital brands and platforms.”

“Safenames’ focus on brand protection aligns with ASACP’s focus on online business protection through child protection, making for a mutually beneficial alliance,” McManus added. “We are proud to become Corporate Sponsors of ASACP and to help it provide a safe space for brands, children, and consumers alike.”

FUBAR Webmasters

An ASACP In-Kind Media Sponsor since 2009, FUBAR Webmasters offers an online resource site for all parties, conferences, conventions and event pictures and news relating to adult website owners, operators, affiliates and service providers.

“It occurred to us that the [photos] might be of interest to people who didn’t make it to the shows for one reason or another,” noted a company rep of the desire to educate and entertain those operators working in the adult entertainment industry. It is an educational process that helps promote the effort to protect minors online, with FUBAR Webmasters setting an example by using a warning page and rating meta tag on their homepage, along with providing links to parental filtering and child protection tools.

“ASACP thanks Fleshlight, Safenames and FUBAR Webmasters for their continued commitment, generosity and leadership in aiding the association in its mission to make a tangible improvement in online child protection,” Henning concluded. “ASACP and its family of sponsors are united in this task and represent the best of the best in the industry. We encourage other brands to step up and join us today.”

Industry Photographer, Webmaster Julius ‘JFK’ Kedvessy Passes Away

LOS ANGELES — Industry photographer and webmaster Julius “JFK” Kedvessy suddenly passed away yesterday, according to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Sandra Kane, and three children.

“It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Julius F. Kedvessy on Sept 30, 2021,” his family posted on social media.

They described Kedvessy, an eminent industry presence at trade shows and events for decades, and the mastermind behind FUBAR Webmasters, as someone whose “personality was larger than life and nothing could slow him down.”

“Julius was forever on the run with various projects and businesses to occupy his time, constantly filled with new ideas of what new adventure he could partake in,” they added. “He was forever quietly doing things to help others without ever wanting any credit for himself. Even if he was incredibly opinionated, he was always his most authentic self. There is so much more and not enough words to describe the man that Julius was.”

Industry Reactions

XBIZ Founder and Publisher Alec Helmy said, “Julius was a dear friend to so many. A true gentleman of the business and an iconic figure of the webmaster community. A trade show was incomplete without him. I will miss him dearly.”

“I am sad beyond what words can express,” added MojoHost’s Brad Mitchell. “For nearly 20 years Julius has been a trusted friend and travel companion. We have been on hundreds of trips across the world together and shared so many awe inspiring experiences. He was a kindred spirit.”

Mitchell said that “sometimes we would just look at each other at events in disbelief and our shared expressions told the whole story. I am so grateful for our years of true friendship and thankful for his hard work, also. Julius was always full of life and energy; he made a really hard job look easy.”

“I have so much gratitude for his capturing the best moments of my career and the shiniest moments of our outrageously fancy world travel with so many friends,” Mitchell continued. “My thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful wife and business partner Sandra and beautiful family as they mourn this tragic loss. Julius, I’m thinking about you relaxing right now with a beautiful sunset, a great glass of red wine, a fine cigar. Alas, you may rest in peace, my good friend.”

Wasteland.com’s Colin Rowntree, a personal friend for over 20 years, described the man known by top industry stakeholders as “JFK” as “indeed, one of the most creative, unique and, yes, opinionated people in the adult industry.”

“I spent many happy hours with him at shows over the years,” Rowntree added, “and he was always happy to pitch in on my projects at XBIZ Mindbrowse shows, where he was the videocam operator for ‘theater in the round’ sessions — about which he complained loudly, but always managed to get great coverage. He will be sorely missed by me, my family and the industry as a whole.”

Jimmy “Wizzo” from Broker.xxx said JFK was, “a staple in the industry recording and documenting industry events as long as I can remember and will be sorely missed at all future events. His friendly smile and greeting was often the first thing attendees of events anywhere in the world would see.”

“Sure, whatever is on other side, Julius will be there with camera in hand to greet the rest of us!” Wizzo offered.

Grooby’s Steven Grooby explained the history of his friendship with JFK.

“He came across as such a grouchy guy that I avoided him for years, but then maybe 12 or 15 years ago we started hanging out and I found him engaging, fun, warm and just a really good guy and I enjoyed his company immensely,” Grooby said. “He was one of the regulars among the cigar-smoking group, and we always managed to get him to sit for a short while, take a break and have a smoke during a show, as otherwise he was nonstop.”

Grooby added that he and JFK “shared a lot of good times together from across the U.S. and Canada, to Colombia, Oktoberfest and London. I’m very saddened by his death. He’s helped innumerable companies and people in the industry over the decades — and he’s a huge loss to our industry. My love to his family.”

Australia’s Top Censor Unveils Plan to Block ‘Extreme Pornography’

CANBERRA, Australia — The head of Australia’s eSafety Office, the country’s official online regulator has unveil her proposal to censor adult content in the country through a position paper and an exclusive interview with a local newspaper.

In an interview with The Australian, eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant called the censorship measures a “child safety code,” although the position paper boasts the rather more generalizing title “Development of Industry Codes Under the Online Safety Act.”

Inman Grant told The Australian’s David Swan that her goal was to target “the likes of Facebook and Instagram, which she said had not done a good enough job of protecting their users — particularly children — from accessing violent and extreme pornography.”

“Much of our success is contingent on working with industry and using the carrot to the extent we can, and then we’ve got sticks to use,” Inman Grant told The Australian, deliberately deploying a corporal punishment metaphor.

Through the months when she has been selling her proposal to the public, Inman Grant has continuously fudged the line between “protecting children” from what she calls “extreme pornography,” and creating censorship rules that affect all Australians, regardless of age.

Neither Inman Grant nor the MPs who have demanded an age verification scheme have clarified how “extreme” pornography will be distinguished from “regular” pornography, or who would be in charge of making that decision.

Last week, Inman Grant boasted of her participation on the podcast from NCOSE, a group whose avowed mission is “to eradicate all pornography,” an umbrella term it has used for all sexual expression, including Sports Illustrated magazine, works of literature and LGBTQ+ education materials.

Australia’s top government censor was featured on a podcast by NCOSE, a religiously-inspired lobby formerly known as Morality in Media.

“Thanks NCOSE for the opportunity to discuss Australia’s eSafetyOffice to combatting [sic] child sexual exploitation material and online access to inappropriate content for minors,” Inman Grant tweeted from her own account, fully aligning herself with NCOSE’s mission.

“The approach of prevention, protection and proactive and systemic change will continue to drive our efforts,” Australia’s national censor added.

She later removed the tweet after users began confronting her about her alliance with such a controversial American group.
