Woodhull Freedom Foundation Denounces ‘Harmful’ Anti-Porn Campaign

WASHINGTON — The Woodhull Freedom Foundation has released an official statement about the campaign that resulted in OnlyFans decision — later reversed after sex worker outcry — to ban sexual content.

The statement was signed by Ricci Levy, president of the prestigious national organization dedicated to affirming and protecting sexual freedom as a fundamental human right.

This is the Woodhull Freedom Foundation’s statement.

When OnlyFans announced it was going to ban pornography on its platform they were clearly participating in a campaign to police, restrict, and punish sexual pleasure. The reaction from sex workers and their allies was swift and fierce. Without these efforts, this harmful campaign would surely have succeeded, and would have implications reaching well beyond the lives of sex workers. It could have restricted the freedom of anyone who wanted to post or view explicitly sexual content.

And it isn’t just policies like the one that OnlyFans nearly put into action. SESTA/FOSTA, an unconstitutional law enacted in 2018, is being challenged in Federal court (Woodhull Freedom Foundation vs. The United States of America). In addition to clear violations of the First and Fifth Amendments, the law  makes it possible for people or platforms to be punished for actions taken in the past when the action was not illegal. Additionally, there are ongoing attempts to overturn Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which essentially says that the chalkboard isn’t responsible for what someone else writes on it. If these attempts are successful free speech on the internet will be a thing of the past.

These policies all claim to be aimed at goals we think everyone supports: fighting sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and child sex abuse. Yet, only platforms that embrace human sexuality are targeted, and they are targeted in ways that actually make it harder to fight human trafficking. Woodhull Freedom Foundation opposes human trafficking, forced labor, and sexual abuse in all forms. But laws like this won’t help us protect people’s human rights. Instead, they restrict our sexual freedoms and make it harder to protect the vulnerable.

OnlyFans did the right thing in reversing their original decision to ban pornography on their site. They faced Goliath in the form of the large payment processors and ultimately stood their ground. But that’s today. When pressure increases tomorrow, which site will cave?

Adam & Eve Compares Attitudes About ‘Love at First Sight’ After a Decade

Adam & Eve Compares Attitudes About 'Love at First Sight' After a Decade

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Adam & Eve had released the results of their latest survey comparing answers to the question “Do you believe in love at first sight?” between 2011 and 2021.

The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.

This year, when respondents were asked if they believe in love at first sight, just over 46% of them said yes, compared to 55% in 2011. More than 29% of those polled said they did not believe in love at first sight, compared to 27% in 2011. And more than 24% of the current respondents said they weren’t sure about love at first sight, compared to 18% of those questioned in 2011.

“It’s no surprise to me that with everything going on in the world right now, people are not as optimistic when it comes to the idea of love at first sight,” said Dr. Jenni Skyler, resident sexologist at Adam & Eve. “Additionally, many of us have been isolated in some capacity for much of the last year and a half, so we may have forgotten what that spark, attraction or notion of ‘lust’ at first sight feels like.”

Chad Davis, the company’s director of marketing, said, “Adam & Eve encourages adults to explore their sexuality within their own comfort levels and boundaries. We are happy to provide options and accessories for every stage of relationship.”

LeWood Announce Release of ‘Anal Fabulous’ for Evil Angel

LOS ANGELES — Francesca Le and Mark Wood (aka LeWood) have announced the VOD release of “Anal Fabulous” for Evil Angel on Tuesday.

Comprised of four anal-centric scenes directed by Le, each tryst follows Wood as he pairs off with April Olsen, Andi Rose, Rory Knox and Rebel Rhyder, who anchors a foursome that includes John Strong and Michael Stefano.

“I love being invited to Mark and Francesca’s [sets], I know I’ll always leave with a smile on my face. I especially appreciate their dynamic on set — wife/director and husband/performer, with me caught somewhere in the middle — it’s seriously hot,” Olsen enthused. “You can see my excitement throughout the scene. This duo can really make a porno; I want to be like them when I grow up.”

Rhyder also praised her LeWood experience.

“Shooting my scene for LeWood’s ‘Anal Fabulous’ was an incredible experience — one I’ll never forget. I was on set with a room full of legends,” she said. “Mark, Michael and John together made for a super-hot sex scene. Add in Francesca directing and it was just magical.”

Le shared how much fun she had with the project.

“I can’t say enough about April, Andi, Rory and Rebel. Each and every one of these beautiful girls delivered an amazing performance. I noticed their great personalities from the start, and you can see them shine in their scenes. They all truly made me remember why I am still doing what I do — shooting beautiful girls that truly enjoy anal sex. Thank you for helping LeWood create another anal masterpiece.”

Wood noted the foursome could be the last time he works with Stefano and Strong.

“We started in the business at the same time and between the three of us, we probably did close to 8,000 gonzo movies combined,” he said. “There is no better way to complete the circle than with one more awards-worthy, hardcore, gonzo scene.”

The trailer and additional details about LeWood’s “Anal Fabulous” can be found here.

Backpage.com Publishers Release Statement About Upcoming Trial

PHOENIX — The former owners of Backpage.com, veteran newspapermen Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, released an official statement two days before the controversial trial against them is scheduled to start in Arizona.

The statement, published today by Lacey and Larkin’s last remaining news outlet Front Page Confidential, stresses what the accused Backpage founders see as an assault on freedom of speech by pro-censorship elements within the federal government and Arizona politics.

As journalists and publishers with more than 40 years of experience in the business of news, we firmly believe our prosecution represents epic government overreach and an unprecedented assault on the First Amendment and freedom of speech.

On April 6, 2018, the federal government eradicated an entire classified ads website containing speech that was 100-percent legal for the site to publish—speech presumptively protected by the U.S. Constitution and also protected by federal statutes.

The publication of speech posted to interactive websites by users is legally protected; so is “offensive” speech and speech the government does not like. Numerous federal courts said just that, in cases involving Backpage.com. Yet our prosecutors steadfastly refuse to admit that the First Amendment has any bearing on our prosecution for being associated with Backpage.com—a website the eminent jurist Richard Posner called a First Amendment-protected “avenue of expression of ideas and opinions.”

Backpage.com, the site we owned from 2004 to 2015, hosted such legally-protected speech. Whenever any concern arose that involved the safety of a woman or minor, our company voluntarily aided law enforcement and government entities such as the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This is documented extensively by court records, law enforcement statements and the government’s own reports. Numerous law enforcement officials praised Backpage’s work in this regard.

Since the FBI seized Backpage, adult advertising has, predictably, fled overseas to companies that do not respond to U.S. subpoenas. Without Backpage’s responsiveness and assistance to law enforcement, law enforcement’s means of rescuing trafficked individuals and arresting and prosecuting traffickers has been severely diminished.

Members of the press should ask themselves: what has motivated this unprecedented attempt to hold us vicariously responsible for the criminal acts of others? And who will be the victims of the government’s next attack on legally protected speech that it wishes to silence?

The culprits here are not publishers and editors, or the executives of an interactive website. Rather, they are self-serving politicians with historical vendettas and overzealous prosecutors who placed their own ambition above the safety and welfare of women: persons such as John and Cindy McCain and Kamala Harris. Taking down Backpage was more important to these people than doing the hard work of making women and marginalized communities safer.

The prosecution has engaged in years of scurrilous tactics, such as destroying evidence, abusing the grand jury process, and seizing all the money we set aside for legal expenses to vindicate ourselves in this battle. It has done this knowing it has all the wealth and resources of the United States at its command.

We have the knowledge that we are not guilty and the determination not to bow before the authoritarian mindset that demanded we suppress Constitutionally-protected speech and now prosecutes us for having refused to do so. And we will prove our case during the course of this trial.

Jane Wilde Leads ‘Anal Investigation 4’ for Evil Angel

Jane Wilde Leads 'Anal Investigation 4' for Evil Angel

LOS ANGELES — Jane Wilde and director Chris Streams “probe deep-seated anal kink in a sensational, new gaping scene” debuting online today for Evil Angel.

The starlet toplines “the climactic segment,” noted a rep, of “Anal Investigation 4,” released earlier this month with a cast that includes Lana Analise, Kendra Cole and Destiny Cruz with Mick Blue, Michael Stefano, John Strong, Zac Wild and reigning XBIZ “Male Performer of the Year” Ramon Nomar.

“I absolutely loved shooting this scene for Evil Angel and Chris Streams with the legendary Mick Blue. We got to shoot outside in a beautiful garden, and I think the visuals really add to the scene. Lots of anal debauchery in this movie, and I can’t wait for you to see it,” said Wilde.

The director noted his preference for filming Wilde “in sexy lingerie and showing off her beauty in not the normal gonzo or ‘teen-y’ way — letting her have a more womanly look, and having her raw, sexual nature move the scene naturally into the hardcore performance she is known for.”

The title is “a deep dive for fans of kinky sodomy,” added the rep.

“Anal Investigation 4” is now available in all formats, including EvilAngel.com; follow the studio and Jane Wilde on Twitter.

ACLU: End Financial Discrimination Against Sex Workers

ACLU: End Financial Discrimination Against Sex Workers

WASHINGTON — As part of this week’s public debate about OnlyFans blaming “banks” for its decision — later reversed — to ban sexual content, the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) highlighted today a June editorial by the ACLU. In it, the civil liberties group urges PayPal and Venmo to discontinue financially discriminatory practices against sex workers “that harm vulnerable communities by shutting people out without due process.”

“Everyone should have access to financial services,” wrote the ACLU’s Trans Justice Campaign Manager LaLa B Holston-Zannell. “Using financial intermediaries such as PayPal and its subsidiary Venmo can make or break one’s ability to work or survive in our increasingly virtual society.”

In spite of this, Holston-Zannell continued, “platforms like PayPal and Venmo continue to boot sex workers and other users off their platforms with little due process.”

The ACLU announced at the time that it had joined 22 other civil rights groups in demanding a stop to PayPal and Venmo’s discriminatory practices.

The editorial also added that “policies that criminalize and stigmatize sex work and ban sex workers’ access to services disproportionately harm Black, Brown and trans communities. Many people are already aware that when sex work is criminalized, sex workers are more vulnerable to abuse.”

“Public platforms like PayPal and Venmo, who should offer their services to all users without discrimination, will randomly and with little warning shut down the accounts of sex workers. This targeted freezing of accounts, without warning or due process, is extremely harmful to workers relying on that income, and ends up pushing sex work deeper into the shadows and enabling more abuse that goes unaccounted for,” Holston-Zannell added.

Woodhull, EFF Issue Call to Action Against Apple iPhone Surveillance

Woodhull, EFF Issue Call to Action Against Apple iPhone Surveillance

SAN FRANCISCO — The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is organizing an action to convince Apple to reconsider incorporating a new surveillance technology into all its products, supposedly in the name of “child safety,” which will scan users’ photos and messages.

The Woodhull Freedom Foundation — a national organization dedicated to affirming and protecting sexual freedom as a fundamental human right — today issued a call to action (CTA) via Twitter, encouraging supporters to join EFF’s campaign.

“Proud to be a supporter of this effort to stop Apple from continuing down this path to a lack of privacy that will haunt us for years to come,” the Woodhull account tweeted. “Won’t you add your signature?”

EFF’s CTA explains that Apple “has abandoned its once-famous commitment to security and privacy. The next version of iOS will contain software that scans users’ photos and messages. Under pressure from U.S. law enforcement, Apple has put a backdoor into their encryption system.”

The digital rights group is urging supporters to sign its petition, and “tell Apple to stop its plan to scan our phones.”

“Users need to speak up … this violation of our privacy is wrong,” the EFF announcement concludes.

To sign the petition, visit the EFF CTA site.
