Falcon/NakedSword Founder Tim Valenti Reflects on 25 Years

Twenty-five years is a long time — especially in an industry that’s constantly changing.

When Falcon/NakedSword President and CEO Tim Valenti talks about his company’s early days, there’s no chest-thumping or victory-lapping — just a steady, grounded reflection on what it took to keep building, even as the business around him kept reinventing itself.

“Looking back at NakedSword’s first 25 years, I think our biggest impact has been proving that gay adult entertainment can be at once commercially successful and creatively impactful,” Valenti says. “From the beginning, we believed porn could be cinematic. We pushed for better storytelling, higher production values and a greater respect for the people in front of and behind the camera.”

Affectionately referred to by die-hard fans as “the Netflix of gay porn,” NakedSword launched as a VOD service in an era when the idea of streaming adult content still felt experimental. Over time, it grew into a platform that would later fold into the Falcon brand, expanding beyond distribution and into full-scale studio production.

That evolution mirrors Valenti’s own preferred approach: Stay focused on craft, stay open to what’s next.

In person, Valenti has a handsome “hippie Santa” vibe and is pretty humble about what he has built. When the conversation turns to the milestone quarter-century anniversary at hand, his response reflects his personality: quick to laugh and slow to self-mythologize.

“To be honest, I don’t really think about it a lot!” he admits. “I’m so focused on what’s happening now and what we’re going to be doing next. But I feel proud that I was able to do this. It’s just a nice feeling that we’ve been able to create such a great product, work with so many talented people in this business, keep it going — and know that we have a vision of the future.”

Filling the Gaps, Setting the Bar

For Valenti, the shift from aggregator to studio with the advent of NakedSword Originals wasn’t about planting a flag — it was about noticing what was missing.

“I realized there were gaps in what was being produced,” he recalls. “So we became our own brand, and we’ve always tried our best to do cinematic features and that level of work.”

That instinct toward narrative and genre has shaped much of the studio’s recent output, from last year’s XMAs-nominated thriller “Wild Game” to the romantic comedy “The Way to a Man’s Heart” and even a holiday romance entry with “Bred & Breakfast: The Push It Inn.” Each project reflects a willingness to play with form — not to chase trends, but to follow curiosity.

Yet Valenti is quick to frame growth in terms that go beyond release slates. When he talks about how he operates day to day, his language shifts from production to people.

“A few of the key values that have guided my success are consistency, respect and authenticity,” he offers. “I’ve always believed in showing up — whether for performers, creative teams or partners — and in building trust over time rather than chasing short-term victories. This industry moves fast in terms of technology and innovation, but relationships are what keep the wheels greased.”

That approach is something longtime collaborator Ben Rush regularly sees firsthand. The vice president of content development — and a frequent writer-director for the studio — traces much of NakedSword’s creative climate back to Valenti himself.

“Tim Valenti is the main reason I love the adult business,” Rush attests. “He understands that great adult films and brand extensions are built on trust, taste and conviction. Tim also has an instinct for when something feels authentic versus when it feels safe, and he always pushes for the former.

“He doesn’t micromanage,” Rush adds. “He sets the bar high and then lets creatives do what they do best. That kind of leadership creates an environment where bold ideas aren’t just allowed, they’re expected. That’s why NakedSword continues to be culturally relevant and creatively edgy.”

For Valenti, the work doesn’t stop when the cameras turn off. He talks about NakedSword’s relationship with the broader queer community in the same practical, forward-looking terms he uses when discussing content.

“One of the most important parts of what we do is a lot of community events, whether it’s parties or working with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,” Valenti says. “We’re going to be doing a lot more in the new year.”

Build, listen, show up, repeat. It’s a familiar rhythm by now at NakedSword, and one that’s set to carry the company into its next 25 years.

‘Something we could own ourselves’

During the early years of the internet, Valenti found himself working with an ad agency in San Francisco.

“All of our clients wanted to have websites,” he remembers. “I realized what we could do online, but the agency was not willing to do it, so I rolled it out into my own company.”

In 1996, Valenti started an advertising and technology agency called Cubik. The company built early web presences for clients like IBM, Fujitsu, GameSpot and Shorenstein Properties — a portfolio that placed Valenti squarely inside the tech boom just as the web was taking its first real steps.

One of Cubik’s earliest high-profile clients was Eidos Interactive, the creators of Tomb Raider. The agency helped generate content and visibility around Lara Croft, nudging her from an early 2D character into the beginnings of an icon.

“I thought, why can’t we be doing this with regular movies in Hollywood?” Valenti recalls. “I went down to LA and got into some studios and told them what we were doing. They all thought it was great but they weren’t ready.”

The pivotal moment arrived closer to home.

“Obviously, being in San Francisco and being gay, I knew there were a lot of gay studios,” Valenti says. “So I thought, ‘Well, this is something we could own ourselves.’ I pitched all the gay studios.”

That instinct led to partnerships with Titan Men creators Bruce Cam and Keith Webb, as well as the Mitchell Brothers, who operated the O’Farrell Theatre and were the filmmakers who created “Behind the Green Door.”

“We built their platform and subscription site,” says Valenti. “I was trying to build my own little empire because I couldn’t do it in Hollywood.”

When Worlds Collide

In 2007, NakedSword merged with AEBN, folding in Falcon, Raging Stallion and Hot House, while also bringing a host of additional gay adult labels into its growing ecosystem.

Behind the scenes, Valenti was still running Cubik alongside the adult venture.

“I’m streaming adult content, and also have major corporate clients that I’m building websites for,” he says. “It was very scary, but I never lied about it. I told some of our chief clients and they were all very good about it. They loved our work and appreciated that we were being open with them. We didn’t lose any clients.”

Then there was an email mix-up that became legendary.

“One of the techs put in the wrong email list and sent out the NakedSword email to the mailing list for the National Potato Board, which was all housewives and recipes,” Valenti laughs. “The President was really mad but the board couldn’t fire us.

“What was funny was, that weekend we probably made $3,000 off that list from housewives,” Valenti adds mischievously.

What’s Possible

Even after 25 years, Valenti still cultivates a spirit of exploration. Thinking about the next phase of NakedSword, he anticipates broadening the language of adult storytelling.

“What’s exciting for me is some of the partnerships we’ve been trying to create over the last few years with different studios, different talent and some of the things we’re going to embark on — especially in the more mainstream, safe-for-work areas,” he enthuses. “We will be creating some content that will be entertaining and stand on its own. It will be a bridge to some of our adult products.”

Nor is the map he describes limited by borders or genre.

“We’re doing a lot more with Alter Sin in Europe, and we will be doing more with partners in Montreal, Asia and South America,” Valenti affirms. “As well as a lot more mainstream, safe-for-work product that butts up to adult entertainment and erotica. I think it will allow us to use some of the best narrative talents we have in the business.”

For those creating the content, the company’s approach translates into an unusual degree of freedom. Rush points to risk-taking, not scale, as the defining feature of the NakedSword brand.

“That’s very rare these days,” Rush says. “There’s a real backbone to the brand: high standards, no complacency and a genuine respect for staff, filmmakers, writers and performers who want to push themselves. Tim trusts us to go further, dig deeper and make content that actually says something. That kind of support doesn’t just elevate the work — it changes what’s even possible.”

The result?

“Sex that hits hard, stories that audiences remember and performances that feel dangerous and dirty in the best possible ways,” Rush attests.

For Valenti, the partnerships, the risks and the successes all trace back to one central guiding principle.

“I truly hope that our work has raised expectations about what gay adult content can look like, the way it’s made and how long it can last,” he shares. “I’m proud that we’ve proven longevity comes from knowing what our brand represents and evolving without losing our core audience.

“Following trends is not necessarily the way to stay relevant,” Valenti says. “It’s about standing for something.”

Corey Silverstein to Host Webinar on North Carolina Age Verification Thursday

Corey Silverstein to Host Webinar on North Carolina Age Verification Thursday

LOS ANGELES — Adult industry attorney Corey D. Silverstein has announced his latest “Legal Impact” webinar, titled “North Carolina AV Law — Content Creation Issues,” to livestream Thursday at 4 p.m. (EST).

The event, sponsored by Pig Machine with exclusive media sponsor XBIZ, will be moderated by ClaraKitty and feature guests Siouxsie Q and attorney Lawrence Walters.

“The North Carolina law has created major uncertainty for content creators, producers, and online platforms,” said Walters. “Our webinar will explore the issues and help guide those affected by this vexing new law. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain insights before more states pass similar legal obligations.”

Added Silverstein, “The topic of this webinar was chosen because of the substantial community outreach that I received following numerous platforms and content creators abandoning all activities with North Carolina. The revocation of the consent component of North Carolina’s law has been especially destructive for the industry.”

Ofcom Fines 8579 LLC $1.8 Million for AV Noncompliance

Ofcom Fines 8579 LLC $1.8 Million for AV Noncompliance

LONDON — U.K. media regulator Ofcom on Monday imposed a fine of 1.35 million pounds (more than $1.8 million) against adult site operator 8579 LLC for failing to implement age checks as required for compliance with the Online Safety Act.

As XBIZ reported last year, Ofcom investigated a number of site operators to determine whether they had “highly effective” age checks in place to prevent minors from accessing adult content.

In the wake of that investigation, Ofcom is fining 8579 LLC for failure to comply with age check requirements between July 25, 2025, and November 19, 2025, on the sites crazyporn.xxx, hoes.tube and love4porn.com.

In addition, the agency asserts that the site justpornflix.com continues to lack requisite age assurance measures and has given 8579 LLC until 5 p.m. GMT on Monday to implement such measures or face an additional penalty of 1,000 pounds per day.

Ofcom reports on its website that the investigation also originally included sites 4kporn.xxx and 429.xxx, but that a “possible change in provider” from 8579 LLC to Reply Buzzer Ltd. led the agency to omit findings in relation to those sites from the current decision. Ofcom has opened a separate investigation into Reply Buzzer Ltd.

Ofcom has also fined 8579 LLC an additional 50,000 pounds for failing to respond to an information request. The agency has ordered the company to provide Ofcom with a complete list of all sites that it operates, or face an additional daily penalty of 250 pounds until it responds or for 60 days, whichever is sooner.

Earlier this month, Ofcom fined Kick Online Entertainment more than $1 million for similar compliance failures.

George Lusty, Director of Enforcement at Ofcom, said: “We’ve been clear that adult sites must deploy robust age checks to protect children in the U.K. from seeing porn. Those that fail to do this — or ignore legally binding requests from us — should expect to face fines.”

Derek Kage, Heath Halo Go ‘Ten Out of Ten’ for NakedSword

“Throw everything you have at me.”

That was three-time XMAs Gay Performer of the Year Derek Kage’s response when NakedSword’s Ben Rush first pitched him the concept for “Ten Out of Ten: Derek’s First Gonzo Gangbang.”

Recalls Kage, “He was like, ‘Do you think you’ll be able to do it?’ And I’m like, ‘Let’s go!’”

Rush, who serves double duty as the studio’s co-chief content officer and chief creative marketing officer, says he’d been waiting for “just the right time and the right tops” to deliver something that would pack a bigger wallop than your standard gangbang.

He seems to have chosen well. NakedSword kicked off 2026 with the multipart rollout, which is already ranking among the studio’s top-performing releases. In fact, another installment is already in the works, this time around featuring studio regular Heath Halo.

For Rush, it was a matter of keeping his word.

“I promised them boundary-pushing event gangbangs,” he tells XBIZ. “Derek and Heath were both eager to up the stakes, so we put our — ahem — heads together to come up with a blowout movie that features a cumulative 16 double penetrations, a triple penetration, and the first time Derek and Heath have taken fists in their asses.”

“The movie is bursting at the seams,” Rush adds. “And I hope fans are too.”

Asked how he prepared for the intensity of an extreme gangbang, Kage attests that while the marathon performance required an athlete’s sense of pacing and control, it wasn’t something he “prepared” for in the traditional sense.

“People ask, ‘Oh, did you train?’” Kage says with a mischievous smile. “But I’ve always been a slut, so I naturally just gravitated toward that.”

The Gang’s All Here

According to Kage, his fellow cast members were equally jazzed about the project.

“Everybody working on this was ready,” he says. “You’ve got me and nine of the most professional guys doing our thing.”

Those “professional guys” being Halo, Tony Genius, Brogan, Ty Santana, Colt Spence, Alex Kof, Miles Fallon, Chris Damned and Dio Ferrero.

“It was such a diverse group,” Kage marvels. “You had really tall guys, shorter guys, muscular guys, thinner guys. Latino, Black, white.”

The caliber of the cast exceeded Kage’s expectations — especially considering his characteristically blunt reply when Rush had asked “What’s your type?”

“I just said, ‘A dick and a pulse,’” Kage laughs. “As long as those two things exist, I can work with it.”

Once the performers were assembled, he attests, everybody was good to go.

“All they had to do was just let us fly, and we created so much good stuff,” Kage says. “Ben told us generally what he wanted to see and what he wanted to include, but I think because we were doing so well and everything looked so hot, he just kind of let us go.”

“He would just say, ‘Yep, this is good,’” Kage recalls. “‘Let’s just get different camera angles, but keep going!’”

Of course, even amidst general spontaneity, shooting double and triple penetration requires at least some planning.

“We had to play with the logistics first, before we were rolling,” affirms Kage. “It’s dick Tetris!”

Then there was the much-remarked-upon scene where Kage is spun around on a lazy Susan while being taken from different directions by his co-stars. Did all that spinning make him dizzy?

“In gymnastics, when they’re trying to balance on something, they have to focus on one thing,” Kage explains. “They would spin me and I would kind of lose my bearings for a second — but I didn’t get dizzy because I had a constant point of focus and something I could grab.”

“The one thing I was focusing on was dick,” he declares. “Dick was the point of focus of the entire thing.”

At the end of the shoot, Kage found himself stretched out on the floor — exhausted, satisfied and smiling.

“All the guys walked away and I was just lying on the ground in a puddle of sweat,” he remembers. “They were like, ‘Derek, do you need anything?’ And I was like, ‘No. I’m doing great.’”

“I would call it being ‘dick drunk,’” he muses. “Where I’m just so overwhelmed, but I feel wonderful. I’m so happy.”

Passing the Baton

When offered the chance to shoot the second “Ten Out of Ten” installment, Heath Halo didn’t hesitate.

“It’s something I have always wanted in my personal life,” he admits. “I think every little gay boy dreams of that kind of moment.”

Originally, Halo envisioned a locker-room fantasy. However, as he and Rush developed the idea, it gradually transmuted into something different — but equally exciting to both.

“Ben was like, ‘What if you’re inviting these dudes to come eat you alive?’” Halo recalls. “‘Let’s get this nice house and turn them loose on you.’ Then we thought about different ways we could serve me up as if I was a dish.”

Halo nearly got to shoot his own lazy Susan scene, but the plan didn’t quite pan out.

“My ass was too big for it,” he laughs.

Halo did prepare a bit more intentionally for his scene than Kage had done.

“Fantasy is one thing,” he explains. “But being in it can be a bit of a sensory overload. So right before, I prepared with a little bit of meditation — and Sir Peter’s dildo. What else can get you that opened up?”

The lineup included some returning performers from Kage’s scene: Spence, Genius, Kof and Kage himself. The day of the shoot, Halo made sure to connect with his co-stars before the cameras started rolling.

“There were a lot of very popular, very well-known stars in that room,” Halo affirms. “And a few new faces. But I knew everybody there. I hadn’t worked with everyone, but I had either been around them or on set with them.

“I got to spend time with each guy and talk to them about what I wanted, and what they wanted,” he adds. “So everything was safe, prepared and consensual.”

Like Kage, Halo cites the group dynamic as a defining factor in creating the right atmosphere, supporting strong performances and allowing transforming what could have been overwhelming into something that flowed naturally.

Once the shoot began, Halo says, it felt intense but never chaotic.

“That was one of the fastest scenes I’ve ever filmed,” he says. “We just powered through. We were moving and grooving.”

Kage especially enjoyed reversing roles with Halo.

“He has such an inviting ass,” Kage enthuses. “I love to be the ringleader in a gangbang because I know that there needs to be no free hands and every hole needs to have a dick in it. There were a couple of times where I noticed Heath’s mouth was open and I was like, ‘You go over there and put your dick in his mouth!’ I got into that mode of, ‘We’re going to overwhelm this man. We are going to keep him fed.’”

Kage recalls being immediately impressed by Halo’s professionalism the first time the pair ever worked together, several years ago.

“The minute he stepped on set, it was like, ‘Oh, we’re good, I don’t have to take him by the hand and do anything,’” Kage remembers. “Like, ‘He’s ready and he’s going to be great.’”

For Halo, the feeling is absolutely mutual.

“I love that guy,” he says of Kage. “Anything he does is amazing. Something about his aura… it just makes everything feel calm.”

After such an intense shoot, Halo says, his recovery was surprisingly seamless.

“I thought I was going to be walking funny for a few days,” he admits. “But no, I was good. Everything snapped right back.”

First Fists

As for the third installment of “Ten Out of Ten,” that will come to fruition as a stand-alone extended release including footage from both Kage and Halo’s first fisting experiences during their respective gangbangs.

While no stranger to extreme acts on camera, Kage says that particular act came with its own learning curve.

“Fisting is not really my thing,” he admits. “I can take just about as many dicks as you can throw at me, but a fist? It’s kind of a lot. But then I thought, ‘You know what? I’m the three-time XMAs Gay Performer of the Year! Let’s roll. Find whoever has the smallest hand, and I’m in.’”

Likewise, Halo is excited for audiences to see his first fisting.

“There was supposed to be a big fisting finale,” Halo explains. “While I wasn’t able to do it like Derek, it did go in — and I am excited about who it was. I love the struggle to get it in, with all these guys surrounding me and cheering, ‘Yeah, take it!’”

There’s no other footage out there of Halo doing anything like that, he emphasizes.

“There’s plenty of me having sex, sucking dick and taking dick,” he says. “But me getting fisted is very exclusive.”

“Ten Out of Ten: Derek’s First Gonzo Gangbang” is currently available on NakedSword, Halo’s edition of “Ten Out of Ten” is set for a two-part, mid-March release and “Fist First Editions” is scheduled for a March release on Fisting Central.
