Axel Braun Announces Casting Search for ‘Spideypool’ Parody

LOS ANGELES — Axel Braun has kicked off a talent search for the roles of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson in “Spideypool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody” for the Wicked Comix imprint.

“A hugely popular slash pairing in the Marvel fandom between Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and Peter Parker (Spider-Man), ‘Spideypool’ is a term that refers to their canonical team-ups, which began in the comic ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ No. 611 (2010) when Deadpool was hired to distract Spider-Man as part of a job contract,” a rep explained. “A hilarious bromance quickly blossomed, and they have now become a superhero odd couple, much to the amusement of comic book aficionados worldwide.”

Braun, described by the rep as “a notorious comic book geek,” has parodied a wide range of pop culture characters and films and has created a mashup of his own dubbed the “Axelverse.”

“He is certainly not new to anticipating comic book fans’ needs, since he gave the world characters such as Electro in 2011 and Mysterio in 2014, respectively three and five years before their mainstream counterparts, so there is hope that ‘Spideypool’ might one day become a real Marvel movie,” noted the rep.

“With social media now such a driving force in our lives, anything is possible” said Braun, who has also served as head of production for Wicked since the company was acquired by Gamma Entertainment in December 2020.

“And comic fans are very vocal; look at what happened when Ryan Reynolds leaked some test footage he had shot of himself as Deadpool, or at the massive fan movement that persuaded Warner Bros. to fork out $70 million for the Snyder Cut of ‘Justice League.’ It could totally happen; I guess I’ll just have to make sure my movie doesn’t suck.”

The rep said Gamma exclusive contract performer Seth Gamble will reprise his XBIZ award-winning role as Deadpool, while Spider-Man, previously portrayed eight times in the Axelverse by Xander Corvus, will be recast, along with Mary Jane Watson.

“Xander was always phenomenal as Spidey” Braun observed. “I’ve always said he was the best Spider-Man ever put on screen, and I don’t mean just in an adult movie. So there’s some pretty big shoes to fill, definitely.”

“Spider-Man is going to be a very demanding role, and I want to make sure that whoever I choose will be able to really give me and the movie 110 percent,” said Braun. “It all starts with showing me that they’re willing to take the time and put in the work for a killer audition. And if I see someone who’s great, but not right for this specific role, I will always remember them for future projects.”

Gamble, a Braun protégé, described the “Spideypool” script as “hysterical, as usual.”

“They say if you play a character long enough you become him or he becomes you; all I can say is that every time I put that sweaty, smelly costume on, I instantly turn into Deadpool. It’s really crazy, I automatically start to talk differently, move differently — and yes, I even fuck differently, because I have to stay in character and perform like he would, so it’s kinda funny and creepy at the same time, but I guess that’s literally Deadpool in a nutshell.”

The role of Mary Jane Watson was previously played by Capri Anderson.

Braun feels the mainstream cinematic version of Watson has never been quite right.

“I grew up with the John Romita ‘Mary Jane,’ who was a bubbly, sexy breath of fresh air in the comics. Her flamboyance and life-of-the-party personality were contagious and made her not only fun to read but also an obvious source of sexual fantasies for most readers,” he said. “She was super-hot, had a great smile, and you always wondered what she would say or do next and I really want to bring that spirit to the screen.”

The rep noted that all licensed adult talent agencies have been notified and sent sides, so “any performers looking to audition should reach out to their respective agents for details.” Self-booking talent are encouraged to request sides by emailing casting@axelbraun.com.

Submissions should then be sent to the same email address using the subject line “Spideypool Audition.”

Strike 3 Wins Another Legal Victory to Unmask Alleged Content Pirates

Strike 3 Wins Another Legal Victory to Unmask Alleged Content Pirates

TRENTON, N.J. — The U.S. District Court for New Jersey ruled earlier this month that Strike 3 Holdings — the copyright holder for the Vixen Media Group brands — may be granted discovery to establish the identity of a person behind an IP address that the company alleges has been pirating their content and distributing it via torrents.

U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of New Jersey Marsh A. King granted Strike 3 leave to serve pre-Rule 26(f) conference discovery, legal news site JD Supra reported yesterday.

According to the legal site, the judge “recognizes there’s good cause for the Internet Service Provider (ISP) [Comcast] to provide the identity of the alleged infringer through expedited discovery, but won’t let the public ‘peek behind the curtain.’”

Parties, JD Supra explained, are “generally barred from seeking discovery before the Rule 26(f) conference occurs,” but courts can grant leave to provide expedited discovery “upon a showing of ‘good cause.’”

Magistrate Judge Sharon A. King agreed that Strike 3 could show “good cause.”

In the interest of protecting the defendant’s privacy, however, Comcast was required “to first serve a copy of the Order and Subpoena on the IP address owner, which then had 30 days to file a motion to quash, move for a protective order or seek other relief.”

The defendant will also have the choice to to be identified publicly only as “John Doe” if the case moves forward.

This is one in a series of recent wins by Strike 3, after a period in which their main lawyer Lincoln Bandlaw had been sharply criticized by some judges for his legal strategy of subpoenaing ISPs for customer information.

As XBIZ reported, a top legal analytics firm released a report in June confirming that only two adult companies — Strike 3 Media and Malibu Holdings — are responsible for the bulk of all copyright litigation in federal courts between 2018 and 2020.

Assembly Four Joins SexWorkCEO as Premier Sponsor

LOS ANGELES — Assembly Four, described as an “Australia-based collective of sex workers and technologists that creates products and services to help sex workers thrive,” has joined SexWorkCEO (SWCEO) as a premier sponsor.

Co-Founder Lola Hunt said the collective is “thrilled” to commit funds and resources to SWCEO.

“We’re seeing a new wave of resources and tools made by and for sex workers, such as SexWorkCEO, enabling sex workers to work smarter, safer and more creatively. It’s really fantastic work and we wanted to support it,” Hunt added.

A free business resource and advocacy site for online sex workers, SWCEO was launched by veteran content creator and entrepreneur MelRose Michaels on International Sex Workers Day this past June.

“I’m beyond thankful to Assembly Four for their generosity and support,” Michaels said. “Our goal is to empower the sex work community and to make sure that the tools and resources they need are available to them for free. What an incredibly powerful message this is to send to our industry, with leading innovators in the adult space like Assembly Four behind us, helping to fuel the current paradigm shift that is putting all the power into sex worker’s hands.”

Each sponsor is “personally vetted” by Michael to ensure they remain committed to developing “sex work first” products.

“We want to make sure our sponsors truly want to impact the sex work community in a positive way,” said Michaels. “It’s important to me to keep SWEO as a free platform for all sex workers, and thanks to incredible sponsors like Assembly Four, we’re able to offset the costs of producing, distributing and organizing our courses. In return, we offer our sponsors the opportunity to educate models on how to use their products and services, as well as to demonstrate their alignment with sex work community values.”

Vixen Unveils Hollywood Billboard Featuring Maitland Ward

Vixen Unveils Hollywood Billboard Featuring Maitland Ward

LOS ANGELES — Vixen Media Group has unveiled a new billboard in Hollywood, at the intersection of North Highland and Franklin Avenues, featuring Maitland Ward.

The billboard promotes “Muse 2,” directed by three-time XBIZ award-winning “Director of the Year” Kayden Kross.

“‘Muse 2,’ with its scope, production and script, was an endeavor like no other. Playing this character was a challenge I hungrily accepted,” Ward enthused. “This season she is less the hunter and more the prey, which enabled to reach such a profound emotional space as an actress. And as a performer, I was able to really unleash all of this internal turmoil into my scenes in a raw, animalistic way. ‘Muse 2’ really took porn to a whole new level so seeing it lit up like that on a pedestal for the whole city to see just makes me so proud.”

The supporting cast includes Vanna Bardot, Avery Christy, Lulu Chu, Destiny Cruz, Manuel Ferrara, Aubrey Kate, Lena Paul and Ivy Wolfe.

“It is an absolute honor to see ‘Muse 2’ showcased in the center of Hollywood at this level,” said Kross. “A lot went into this film and it touches on a number of timely issues people are facing today. Maitland executed this role better than it was written and showed why ‘Muse 2’ is just the start for adult films crossing over into mainstream territory.”

The feature is now available on Deeper.com.
