MONTREAL — MindGeek’s tube site XTube announced it will be closing down September 5 and it is no longer accepting uploads or downloads.
The news was first announced by religiously motivated anti-porn crusader Laila Mickelwait through her Twitter account. It was confirmed by information updated on the site’s FAQs and first reported this morning by the TNW news site.
A FAQ page simply titled “XTube Closure” was quietly uploaded to the site over the weekend. The MindGeek property has announced that:
As of July 5, content uploads will be disabled due to XTube closing.
As of September 5th, all user-generated content will be removed due to XTube closing.
Downloads have been disabled, hence users will not be able to download any of the user-generated content.
All remaining payout balances will be paid out by September 16th 2021.
Though they are not obligated to do so beforehand, partners may remove their accounts prior to the closing date (September 5). Those removing their accounts won’t be able to process any remaining payout balances.
VIP members and XTube Premium members will be billed up to August 5, 2021. VIP membership subscriptions and XTube Premium subscriptions will be cancelled on August 5 and will no longer be billed. VIP members and XTube Premium members will be able to continue enjoying their respective benefits until September 5.
