Sex Worker Union to Host Panel at PornFilmFestival Berlin

Sex Worker Union to Host Panel at PornFilmFestival Berlin

BERLIN — The Sex Worker Section of German trade union FAU Berlin will host a panel discussion on Oct. 29 as a part of this year’s PornFilmFestival Berlin, focusing on common problems porn performers face in both mainstream industry and indie content.

The union will begin investigating possible solutions and strategies for organizing among porn performers, a rep said.

FAU Berlin describes itself as “an anarcho-syndicalist trade union in which workers from many different fields and industries collaborate for better working conditions for all.”

The Sex Worker Section of FAU Berlin’s mission is to “fight for the rights of sex workers — in their workplaces, but also on platforms and among freelancers. Our goal is a safer, fairer, and less stigmatized world for sex workers in Berlin.”

Questions to be discussed at the panel will include: How do the broad changes in the adult business shift the dynamics between performers and their work environment? How are performers affected by society’s systemic and often material forms of injustice (online censorship, bank discrimination, racism and other systemic oppressions)? What power do performers have in an often precarious and rapidly-changing gig economy? What insights can the organization of porn artists also offer to traditional models of trade unionizing?

After a brief introduction to the Sex Worker Section as a trade union, the conversation will “go into detail on these workplace issues, while also providing ideas on dealing with them and working towards greater performer empowerment,” the rep said. There will also be a Q&A and space for discussion.

The event is welcome to all, the venue wheelchair accessible, and there will be a suggested donation at the door. The panel will be in English, however German whisper translation is possible. For more information, email faub_sexwork@fau.org

The panel wil take place at SO36, Oranienstr. 190, on Oct. 29. Doors open at 4 p.m. with the discussion taking place 5-8 p.m. (CET).

Fun Factory Commemorates World Menopause Day

Fun Factory Commemorates World Menopause Day

LOS ANGELES — Fun Factory has partnered with vulvovaginal wellness brand Momotaro Apotheca for a campaign commemorating World Menopause Day today.

Fun Factory has created a new range of menopause-focused sex toys and vulvovaginal care products called MenopauSex to help women with their individual menopause experiences.

According to a MenopauSex OnePoll survey conducted on 1000 U.S. women aged 40+, a rep noted, “not only can orgasms alleviate menopause symptoms, but women’s libido has just as much chance of increasing during menopause as it does of decreasing busting the myth that women don’t want sex after menopause.”

The new curated MenopauSex line of sex toys, salves, and balms— including the new Stronic Petite self-thrusting toy — was designed to “help women have the sex life they deserve in midlife and beyond,” the rep added.

The new MenopauSEX range is supported by menopause activist Lou Featherstone aka Luinluland and is featured in the new campaign.

Fun Factory Global Head of Marketing and Education Kristen Tribby said, “In the U.S. women live about 81 years and menopause typically starts at age 51, so on average, a typical U.S. woman spends more than a third of their life in post-menopause. We need to have better education and support for these people. The common assumption is that menopausal women no longer want sex, but this survey has revealed they most certainly do.

“With just a little bit more time and effort and access to healthy, ethically made products, they can continue to have a satisfying sexual journey,” Tribby added.

Momotaro Apotheca CEO and founder Lindsay Wynn said, “We want to be part of the broader conversations surrounding our sexual and reproductive health. We aim to forge a practical path towards holistic vulva health through education and connection backed by science. This new range features ethically made products that support the menopause journey. Whether you are in your 30s, 40s, 50s, or beyond, masturbation and taking care of vulvovaginal health are important first steps in ensuring a satisfying sex life before, during, and after menopause.”

JuicyAds Rolls Out Improved Proxy/VPN/Colohost Blocking

JuicyAds Rolls Out Improved Proxy/VPN/Colohost Blocking

VANCOUVER — JuicyAds has rolled out new proxy, VPN and colohost blocking, allowing advertisers to shut off swaths of the internet from banner campaigns with the flip of a switch.

As proxy and VPN use has increased significantly over recent years, a rep explained, “there is a misguided perception among some people that all proxy traffic is worthless. But proxy, incognito and private options are now commonplace on all major browsers, and people use them all the time.”

Many advertising networks therefore either do not block proxy and colohost traffic at all, or they widely block it.

Instead, the rep noted, JuicyAds is giving advertisers the choice to decide whether they consider proxy traffic valuable or not.

“Some individual advertisers,” the rep explained, “understand that many people commonly use VPNs and Proxies in normal every day Internet use, and treat the traffic like normal website visitors.  Others’ opinions differ, with some suggesting that people behind a proxy have little to no value and will not purchase anything or are fraudulent, although this is not the case. Individual advertisers consider the quality of the traffic differently.”

CEO Juicy Jay said, “At JuicyAds, we believe the decision should be yours, so we allow easy enabling and disabling of proxy, VPN or colohost traffic.”

Jay provided a personal example, saying, “I use a VPN every single day for work. I don’t use it for safety or privacy concerns, but because it’s just a tool I frequently use. I just as often forget to turn it off when doing the other hundred things I do throughout the day. There are lots of legitimate people behind proxies, and just as many non-legitimate. Now the choice is yours to block them or purchase those clicks.”

First Look at Tommy Pistol in the Soska Sisters’ ‘On the Edge’

First Look at Tommy Pistol in the Soska Sisters' 'On the Edge'

LOS ANGELES — The Hollywood Reporter has posted the first official still image for “On the Edge,” the new film by Canadian cult horror auteurs the Soska Sisters, co-starring Tommy Pistol.

As XBIZ reported, the film’s world premiere will take place Oct. 29, during London’s FrightFest Halloween film festival.

The photo shows Pistol — billed under his mainstream performing name, Aramis Sartorio — playing family man Peter, who ends up “getting more than he bargained for when he books a session with the sadistic Mistress Satana (Jen Soska),” the Hollywood Reporter noted.

FrightFest’s plot synopsis reads: “Is it blackmail? Is it torture? Or is it the Devil come for his soul? Will Peter’s faith save him from his own personal Hell or is he already damned? A brilliant depiction of how Kink Culture can heal past trauma and be a source for shocking redemption.”

“On the Edge” is the sixth film by the Soska Sisters, Jen and Sylvia, best known for “American Mary” and the remake of David Cronenberg’s “Rabid.” The Soska twins share writing, directing and producing credits on the film, and co-star with Pistol.

The film also features Ola Dada as the desk clerk, Andrea Jin as the maid, Brianne Finn-Morris as Tori, Alanna Finn-Morris as Chloe, Ivan Decker as the newscaster, Mackenzie Gray as Senator Coleman and Sophie Buddle as Kaitlyn.

FrightFest Halloween runs all day Oct. 29 at Cineworld Leicester Square. “On the Edge” plays at 8:15 p.m.

‘Golden Age’ Performer Kay Parker Passes Away at 78

'Golden Age' Performer Kay Parker Passes Away at 78

LOS ANGELES — Prominent “Golden Age of Porn” performer Kay Parker passed away on Friday at 78, industry sources have confirmed.

The U.K.-born brunette was active as an adult performer from 1977 until 1989, after which she appeared sporadically for a decade in non-sex roles.

Her IAFD page shows over 100 credits, many of them high-profile “Golden Age” titles like the “Taboo” series, “‘V’ – The Hot One,” “Sex World,” “Dracula Sucks,” “Chorus Call,” “The Dancers” and “Firestorm.”

This past weekend, following Parker’s passing, adult industry history archive The Rialto Report published a remembrance and a full recent interview with the late performer.

According to Rialto Report’s Ashley West, Parker “entered the business through a friendship with performer John Leslie, and an appreciative director, Anthony Spinelli.” Parker survived the transition from film to video and “in the 1980s, she appeared regularly in films with a new generation of much younger stars such as Traci Lords and Angel. When the video era took hold, she retired and became a metaphysical counselor.”

West described Parker as “sweet, funny, gentle and considerate — always making the person she was with feel special and valued. She appeared bemused by her success as a sex performer, but always had time to speak of everyone with great fondness.”

As XBIZ reported, in 2015 Parker was the recipient of of the first Golden Age Appreciation Fund (TGAAF) fundraisers to raise money for veteran performers from the Golden Age of adult films (1968-1988) in their time of need.

But the popularity of the titles she had starred in with fans never abated, even long after her retirement. “In July 2006 we put out ‘The Very Best of Kay Parker’ on VOD, on Hot Movies and AEBN,” a distributor told XBIZ in 2007. “They did as much on ‘The Very Best of Kay Parker’ the first two months as we did on the rest of our titles combined.”
