Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop Releases New ‘Heartthrob’ Vibrator

Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop Releases New 'Heartthrob' Vibrator

LOS ANGELES — Gwyneth Paltrow’s brand Goop continues its sustained drive into the pleasure product/sexual health market with the debut of the new Heartthrob vibrator.

“In the sex toy aisle, vibration is the most obvious (and abundant) feature out there,” a rep commented. “But it’s not the start and end of solo pleasure. So we designed our fourth vibrator with a powerful tapping head that oscillates in and out.”

The Heartthrob, the rep noted, was designed to feel “like drumming or flicking, and it’s a totally different sensation from vibration alone.

“Try it once and you’ll fall in love — that’s why we called it Heartthrob,” the rep said.

The waterproof Heartthrob is made of silicone and features two motors with vibrations and patterns adding up to 100 different sensation settings.

The vibrator, which retails at $98, features a “tapping tip,” which oscillates in and out.

“Turn it on and place it gently on the clitoris,” the rep advised. “If it feels too intense at first, start by running the tapping head over the external and internal labia and orbiting around the clit, rather than touching it directly. You can play with the tapping motor’s three speeds and seven patterns — cycle through and let them surprise you.”

The second, vibrating motor is described as “strong, rumbly and exactly what we’re looking for in a classic vibrating toy.”

Butt Plug Billboard Winks at Alleged Chess Cheating Scandal

Butt Plug Billboard Winks at Alleged Chess Cheating Scandal

STOCKHOLM — Nordic pleasure product brand RFSU has capitalized on a current scandal in the chess world over alleged cheating using anal toys, by referencing the controversy in a billboard advertising its butt plugs.

The ad was highlighted last week as “Ad of the Day” by marketing publication The Drum.

As XBIZ reported, the pleasure product sector has been abuzz with rumors that pro chess player Magnus Carlsen accused 19-year-old chess prodigy Hans Niemann of working with an accomplice who allegedly activated vibrating anal beads to guide Niemann’s play.

RFSU quickly “created a reactive campaign in a clever move to tout its products,” The Drum’s Amy Houston reported.

RFSU’s campaign involves billboards and social media posts targeted to Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark.

A company rep told The Drum that RFSU hopes the campaign “will return the butt plug to its rightful position — the hero.”

The Drum described one of the billboards as picturing a butt plug “which has been placed on top of a chess board and the cheeky copy reads, ‘This isn’t cheating. It’s a winning move.’”

Anette Otterström, communication and brand manager at RFSU AB, told The Drum that, “Finally, sex toys get their well-deserved time in the spotlight. However, we want to nuance the cheating accusations, since sex toys are incredible shortcuts to get people on top of their game in bed.”

The campaign was created by Valtech Radon with media support from Scream.

OnlyFans Creator Titus Low Jailed in Singapore for Obscenity

SINGAPORE — Titus Low, one of Singapore’s top OnlyFans creators, has been sentenced to a prison term and fined for violating the country’s draconian laws against “obscenity.”

The 22-year-old Low pleaded guilty in court this morning and was fined S$3,000 (around US$2,000) for “uploading obscene photos and videos” to his popular OnlyFans. He was also sentenced to three weeks in prison “for accessing the website although he was ordered not to do so,” Asian news site CNA reported.

The charges included “failing to comply with a police order by accessing his OnlyFans account when he was under investigation and prohibited from doing so,” “transmitting obscene photos and videos to his OnlyFans account” and other three related charges.

As XBIZ reported in January, on Dec. 30, 2021, Low was arrested by Singapore police and charged with “transmitting obscene material via electronic means depicting his private parts.”

Low’s arrest was prompted by an anonymous informant alerting the authorities in September of last year that he had been violating the country’s strict obscenity laws.

A week later, Low posted an English-language YouTube video explaining his OnlyFans “job” and eloquently detailing his ordeal and how authorities targeted him under old obscenity laws that are not enforced in many jurisdictions.

A Chilling Reminder of Obscenity Prosecutions Destroying Sex Workers’ Lives

In the U.S., conservative and religious activists and politicians like Senator Josh Hawley (R, Missouri) and Florida’s Rick Scott have been crusading in a growing movement to reinstitute local and federal obscenity prosecutions. Such a move would most likely result in expensive legal jeopardy and liability for independent creators of sexual content.

Following similar obscenity laws in Singapore, today prosecutors told the judge that Low started an OnlyFans account in April 2021 and that by October 2021, he had earned more than S$345,000 (US$240,000) after taxes.

The court was also told Low had more than 1,900 active OnlyFans subscribers as of October 2021, and had at some point had many thousands more.

The authorities said that the anonymous person who filed a police report against Low claimed to have found “an obscene video of Low in their 12-year-old niece’s mobile phone,” CNA reported.

The police then “took a statement from Low and told him he was not to access his OnlyFans account and the email account linked to it,” the report continues. ≈Low surrendered his passwords but failed to tell the police that he had a secondary email account linked to the OnlyFans account.”

When the police changed Low’s passwords, he çcontacted the OnlyFans help desk and managed to get access to the account again, by claiming he had been hacked. He then posted more obscene photos and videos for his paid subscribers.”

Canadian Sex Workers Challenge Constitutionality of ‘Nordic Model’ Law

TORONTO — A coalition of sex workers and sex work advocacy groups is fighting in an Ontario court to have an anti-sex-work law repealed in Canada.

Public hearings took place last week in Ontario Superior Court in downtown Toronto over a lawsuit filed by the Canadian Alliance for Sex Work Law Reform (CASWLR), comprising 25 sex worker-led groups representing thousands of sex workers in Canada. The group is challenging the constitutionality of the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act (PCEPA), passed in 2014 by the then-Conservative government under Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

PCEPA was created in response to a 2013 Canadian Supreme Court decision that struck down several criminal prohibitions on sex work as unconstitutional, on the grounds that they were harmful to sex workers and infringed on their rights to liberty and security.

The Conservative government skirted this by decriminalizing the selling of sexual services but criminalizing the purchasing of those services, following what is known as the “Nordic Model.”

The current CASWLR court case challenges this premise, backed by substantive research and evidence that the criminalizing of clients under the Nordic Model ultimately harms sex workers.

“PCEPA criminalizes communicating to sell sexual services in public, communicating to purchase sexual services in any context, facilitating or receiving a benefit related to the purchase of someone else’s sexual services, and advertising sexual services,” CASWLR told Canadian public broadcaster CBC. “Sex workers are criminalized, stigmatized and discriminated against under PCEPA.”

According to CASWLR National Coordinator Jenn Clamen, the government misrepresented the effects of the 2013 law.

“When you criminalize the purchase of sex, sexual services, you are putting sex workers in a context of criminalization at all times,” Clamen told Global News.

Canada’s Minister of Justice Weighs In

Canadian Minister of Justice and Attorney General David Lametti told Global News through a rep that he “will always work to ensure that our criminal laws effectively meet their objectives, keep all Canadians safe, and are consistent with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”

“With respect to the current laws, the five-year parliamentary review of the former Bill C-36 was an appropriate forum for parliamentarians to examine the full range of effects that this legislation has had since its coming into force,” the government rep continued.

The justice minister is reportedly currently reviewing the findings of that committee to formulate a response.

Lametti is a member of the Liberal Party minority government under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. At the time PCEPA was passed, the then-opposition Liberals voted against it in the House of Commons and vowed when campaigning to reform the law upon taking office — a promise CASWLR says they’ve reneged on.

Jelena Vermillion, executive director of coalition member Sex Workers’ Action Program, told the CBC that the government has mechanisms to change the law if it wants to, but has declined to do so.

“There’s also the possibility of a federal member bringing forth a member’s bill proposing the decriminalization of the sex trade and nobody has had the courage to do so, so sex workers are taking the government to court to fight for their rights,” Vermillion said.

Google Researchers Continue Targeting Adult Content for Censorship

Google Researchers Continue Targeting Adult Content for Censorship

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — In a new paper, Google researchers continue to classify explicit sexual material in the same category as “fake, hateful, or harmful content” that requires filtering.

In the research paper about the company’s proprietary AI technology, Google researchers write that although generative text-to-image AI models, like the popular Dall-E 2 viral images, have made “tremendous progress,” Google has decided not to release its version — called Imagen Video — until “concerns are mitigated” regarding potential misuse, “for example to generate fake, hateful, explicit or harmful content.”

In other words, as tech news site Tweak Town, which first flagged the Google paper, editorialized, Google “has subtly said that it won’t be releasing its new video-generating artificial intelligence system over it producing gore, porn and racism.”

Google’s researchers and policymakers view depictions of human sexuality as part of the “problematic data” they see as presenting “important safety and ethical challenges.”

The researchers remain hopeful that, one day, they can develop better tools for censoring sexual content, but conclude that, at present, “though our internal testing suggests much of explicit and violent content can be filtered out, there still exists social biases and stereotypes which are challenging to detect and filter.”

The company has therefore decided not to release Imagen Video until it can fully censor “problematic content,” including “explicit material.”

The only paper quoted by the researchers directly concerning explicit content is titled “Multimodal Datasets: Misogyny, Pornography, and Malignant Stereotypes, which similarly bundles “pornography” into a category of “troublesome” material such as rape and racist slurs.
