plusOne Research Study Reveals Link Between Orgasms, Better Skin

NEWTON — plusOne has released the results of a clinical research study it commissioned to understand the benefits of regular masturbation to achieve an orgasm utilizing the company’s sexual wellness devices.

“plusOne is breaking down barriers and disrupting outdated taboos by making sexual pleasure part of daily self-care and beauty routines,” said a rep.

The eight-week-long clinical research study was conducted with over 30 women, ages 35-50, with a diverse range of ethnicities and body types.

The data shows that four weeks into the study, women found that masturbating at least three days per week led to improved firmness, elasticity and radiance of the skin.

According to plusOne’s study, “at Week Eight, the results continued to show improvement in overall appearance of skin, including texture and tone, as well as diminished sagging, fine lines and wrinkles.”

“The individuals collectively reported that their skin felt tighter and firmer and looked brighter and more lifted,” said a rep.

Dermatologist and skincare expert Dr. Ava Shamban called the study a “game-changer,” claiming it “finally proves the link between healthier skin and sexual wellness.”

“It turns out, yes, orgasms increase your body’s levels of estrogen, which contributes to healthy skin from the inside out,” Shamban said. “Estrogen makes skin thicker and helps maintain collagen levels, which results in more radiant, supple, wrinkle-resistant and firmer skin, especially as we age.”

Dermis and Desire

“This study breaks new ground with the correlation of ‘dermis and desire,’ offering women another way to support skin and address concerns,” Shamban added. “Who said you can’t have the best of both worlds? For a glowing complexion, we’ll definitely have what she’s having.”

The participants utilized a variety of plusOne pleasure products during the clinical trial, including the Air Pulsing Arouser, Mini Massager, Vibrating Bullet, Personal Massager and Dual Vibrating Massager. The results did not vary according to type of vibrator used so long as masturbation led to completion.

Aliona Titarenko, marketing manager at plusOne, opined that “this cutting-edge research opens up a whole new world of possibilities when it comes to the future of skincare.”

“We are bringing innovation to the beauty industry in an unprecedented and entirely unexpected way,” said Titarenko. “Now we know that obtaining healthy skin is as easy as pleasuring yourself, at least three days per week.”

HBO Max Orders Comedy Series Set in World of Erotic Magazines

HBO Max Orders Comedy Series Set in World of Erotic Magazines

LOS ANGELES — An HBO Max half-hour comedy titled “Minx,” described as being set in the 1970s about the creation of the first erotic magazine for women, has been given a 10-episode order.

“HBO Max is ready to explore the world of pornography,” quipped the Hollywood Reporter.

Ophelia Lovibond (“Elementary”) and Jake Johnson (“New Girl”) star as “a young feminist” and “a low-rent publisher,” respectively, in the Lionsgate television series from showrunner Ellen Rapoport, exec producers Paul Feig and Dan Magnante and pilot director Rachel Lee Goldenberg.

“Minx” was first picked up to pilot in February 2020.

“I’m so grateful to Feigco, Lionsgate and HBO Max for seeing the potential in this story from the first time I showed up in their offices with stacks of ’70s porn magazines,” Rapoport told the Hollywood Reporter. “Making ‘Minx’ with our ridiculously talented cast was a dream come true and I’m just thrilled that I get to do it again.”

The cast includes Michael Angarano, Jessica Lowe, Oscar Montoya, Lennon Parham and Idara Victor.

“We fell in love with Ellen’s trunkful of male nudie magazines and her amazing vision for this funny and liberating series the second we heard it and knew we needed a bold network partner to let us bring it to the screen as honestly as possible,” noted Feig.

The “Minx” pickup follows the recent announcement that Maitland Ward will headline and co-produce mainstream comedy series “The Big Time” built around her central role as an adult superstar trying to save a waning film studio on the brink of collapse.

‘InBedWithKate’ Releases Larry Flynt Video Tribute

LOS ANGELES — Svakom sales rep, sex educator and Youtuber Kate Kozlova has memorialized Larry Flynt in a new video tribute titled “Larry Flynt: An American Rebel.”

Kozlova started her YouTube channel “InBedWithKate,” which is dedicated to sex education, last year during the first lockdown.

“For me Larry Flynt is the greatest fighter for free speech and freedom of sexual expression,” Kozlova said. “I admire that Flynt not only defended his right to publish amid prosecution and threats against his life, but was also was active in politics even after he was paralyzed.”

“In 2014, I already worked in the industry in my home country, Russia, but I had no idea how much it cost to live in a world that tolerated our business until I saw the movie ‘People vs. Larry Flynt.’ It made me cry first, but it has inspired me for the rest of my life and it was one of the reasons why I decided to move from Russia to the U.S.,” she continued.

“After reading his books, I was impressed by the strength of this man and his role in shifting public opinion towards our industry. I am grateful for the inspiration he gave me and his death was a big shock and loss for the world and me personally,” Kozlova said. “I hope young people like me, after watching this video, will appreciate the freedom we have and never forget the cost of that fight. And for industry members, it’s just a great video to remember one more time what kind of person he was and how big was the contribution he made to our industry.”

The video features interviews with Flynt, clips from the movie “People vs. Larry Flynt,” excerpts from Flynt’s books and more.

The 45-minute video was shot on several locations, including the Hustler Club Vegas, Hustler Casino, a Hustler Hollywood store and the LFP building.

ASACP Honors FanCentro, DatingGold, YNOT Group as April Featured Sponsors

LOS ANGELES — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has named FanCentro, DatingGold and YNOT Group as its Featured Sponsors for April.

Representing a range of the digital media industry’s most respected companies, according to ASACP, the Featured Sponsors are lauded for promoting responsible business practices through ethical operations and proactive measures that help to protect minors and other viewers from accidental exposure to age-restricted materials, and also serve to improve the overall safety of minors’ daily digital lives.

ASACP Executive Director Tim Henning said that the nonprofit association’s success relies on market-leading companies, organizations and service providers that are willing to assume a leadership role in the fight to keep minors out of and away from adult-oriented materials.

“ASACP’s sponsors promote online child safety by supporting the association and taking several simple steps to help protect the innocence of youth,” Henning said. “This support is vital in educating publishers and other stakeholders about the need for these measures and how they can best be implemented.”

The financial and material support that ASACP receives from its sponsors, including FanCentro, DatingGold and YNOT Group, “power its 25-year record of success and enables its free child protection resources; including market-specific Best Practices and a Code of Ethics for online businesses, app publishers and all operators of age-restricted websites,” a rep said.

ASACP “honors FanCentro, DatingGold and YNOT Group as Featured Sponsors, recognizing the continued commitment that these companies make to keeping the internet safer for children and more relaxing for their families,” the rep added.

The association’s summary of its Featured Sponsors follows:

FanCentro

An ASACP Title Sponsor that has extended its generous support to the association since 2012, FanCentro offers resources for adult content creators, performers and publishers, so the company takes online child protection seriously to ensure that minors are not using its wide range of services.

FanCentro consolidates the most popular models and influencers on social media in one place so that fans can enjoy exclusive access to the model’s private FanCentro Feed, plus their premium Snapchat, Instagram and other social media accounts.

FanCentro provides models with all of the tools needed to successfully monetize their fan base and offers a complete ecosystem for adult entertainment companies, performers and promoters to bring their content to market; and as such they sit on the front line of the need for online child protection.

DatingGold

A valued ASACP Corporate Sponsor since 2007, casual dating and webcam affiliate program DatingGold.com demonstrates its commitment to protecting children by including the RTA label on its flagship cam site WebCamClub.com, and dating site, AmateurMatch.com. It also offers many other niche cam and dating sites, as well as co-branded affiliate sites.

Although ASACP holds its sponsors to the highest ethical standards, cam and dating sites are faced with additional membership requirements because they contain user-generated content that is produced outside of commercial channels, which regulate a performer’s proof of age — so extra steps are needed to help ensure that only lawful images and consenting adults are displayed.

Here, DatingGold excels as an example of how proactive measures by content providers can make a difference in keeping children safe online.

YNOT Group, LLC

An ASACP In-Kind Media Sponsor since 2016, the YNOT brand was founded in 1996, with a goal of providing the earliest and most successful website developers with a central hub where they could network and exchange ideas and traffic. Today the company offers a variety of B2B services, resources and events for adult businesses and specifically for the webcam industry and performers, anchored by its flagship websites YNOT.com and YNOTCam.com providing industry news, interviews, marketing opportunities and more.

Additional YNOT branded services include hosted email marketing and delivery platform YNOTMail.com, adult industry marketing automation software YNOTMarket.com, as well as annual events including YNOTAwards.com which awards excellence in the B2B space at TES Prague every year since 2011, and the YNOT Cam Awards and ‘YNOT Cammunity’ model summit in Hollywood.

“YNOT continues to support and appreciate the efforts of ASACP to make the Internet a safer place,” says YNOT Group, LLC co-owner Jay Kopita. “Thanks for all you do.”

“ASACP’s Featured Sponsors take action when it comes to online child protection, and so can you and your company, too,” Henning concluded. “We are grateful for the commitment, generosity, and leadership displayed by our sponsors, including long-term supporters FanCentro, DatingGold, and YNOT Group, and we encourage other market leaders to join us in our valiant and much-needed mission.”

Backpage: Appeals Court Rejects Judge Recusal Over Husband’s Activism

PHOENIX — The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected yesterday a petition by the defense of the former owners of Backpage.com that they order a recusal of Judge Susan Brnovich over a conflict of interest concerning her husband, Arizona Attorney General and anti-sex work activist Mark Brnovich.

In yesterday’s ruling, a three-judge Ninth Circuit panel ruled against the defense of Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, and refused to recognized the “appearance of partiality” stemming from Mark Brnovich’s repeated statements and publications — some including demonstrable falsehoods and exaggerations — tying Backpage to “human trafficking.”

Yesterday’s development was first reported by news site FrontPageConfidential.com, which is published by Lacey and Larkin and edited by Stephen Lemons, and is the last journalistic remnant of their once-powerful company, Village Voice Media.

An ‘Anti-Trafficking’ Crusader

Last September, as XBIZ reported, the defense requested that Judge Susan Brnovich recuse herself over public statements made by her husband, including a lurid pamphlet published by his office.

A month later, Judge Brnovich issued a ruling detailing her refusal to recuse herself from the case, denying the defendants’ contention that evidence of her husband’s explicit activism against them as part of a crusade alleging “human trafficking” resulted in a conflict of interest and cast doubts on her impartiality.

Brnovich has argued that the prejudicial comments made by her husband about Backpage were not grounds for her to recuse herself over the conflict of interest.

“This case is not about Backpage,” she reportedly said during one of the hearings, although the federal complaint mentions Backpage more than 600 times.

Lacey and Larkin’s defense have produced copies of AG Mark Brnovich’s tawdry “anti-trafficking” pamphlet “Human Trafficking: Arizona’s Not Buying It,” which features a cover portraying a stock photo of a very young woman wearing a skimpy top and leaning into the window of a car.

The sensationalistic 2017 pamphlet, still available as a government publication, wildly exaggerates the prevalence of what it calls “human trafficking” in Arizona, illustrates it with stock photography of young cis white women in peril that do not match any known statistics about actual human trafficking and repeatedly mentions Backpage — at the time of publication not yet shuttered by the FBI — as engaging in and central to “human trafficking.”

The pamphlet is presented as the thoughts of AG Brnovich and it even begins with an introduction titled “Letter From Mark” (sic) where the public servant — and husband of the federal judge in charge of Backpage’s prosecution — takes full ownership of the alarmist statements that follow.

The Ninth Circuit’s Ruling

“Without delving into the petition’s underlying issues,” Front Page Confidential’s Stephen Lemon reported, “the Ninth ruled that the defense’s request for a ‘writ of mandamus’ ordering Judge Brnovich’s removal from the case did not meet the high standard set for immediate relief.”

“Quoting previous Ninth Circuit decisions, the panel referred to mandamus (Latin for ‘we order’) as a ‘drastic and extraordinary remedy.’ It pointed out that petitioners must demonstrate their right to mandamus is clear and indisputable and that the lower court committed ‘a clear error as a matter of law.’”

The panel ruled yesterday that Judge Brnovich had “committed no clear error.

The trial is now scheduled to begin August 23.

Over 100 Buyers Enlisted for ANME/XBIZ Show

LOS ANGELES — With about three months until the upcoming ANME/XBIZ Show, more than 100 buyers have already signed up for the adult retail industry’s biggest virtual expo event set for July 12-16.

Participating buyers from leading retailers and top distributors will be beaming in from all over the world to meet with international vendors during a week packed with one-on-one meetings and boundless opportunities to network. The virtual event also will offer panel discussions on a variety of key topics and trends that are shaping pleasure products and adult retail.

As a bonus to incentivize business between participants, retail buyers are entered into a contest to reward the Top Three buyers as rated by vendors based on a range of criteria.

As the second ANME/XBIZ show to be held this year, several of the attending buyers are looking forward to the latest edition to check out the latest product offerings and ensure retail success throughout the rest of the year.

“I love the timing of this July ANME/XBIZ show because it allows just enough time to finalize holiday season purchasing,” said Shelia Holster from Sactacular. “Private virtual meetings provide instant support from vendors. So I anticipate finding several key items to stock up on.”

Casey Lozano, the buyer for Patricia’s, praised the convenience and value of the event.

“As a buyer for a thriving adult business, attending the virtual meeting is a great way to quickly and efficiently meet with both existing and potential suppliers of merchandise,” Lozano said. “It’s also a lot of laughs and fun without the pressures of traveling.”

ECN’s Glenn LeBoeuf says that he will be attending with a focus on the latest product releases.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the new items that the manufacturers are coming out with,” he said. “Those items that really catch my interest will be the ones I’ll recommend to marketing to promote heavily.”

While coronavirus has kept the adult retail industry’s tight-knit community apart, the ANME/XBIZ show allows individuals to reconnect virtually from the comfort of their own space anywhere in the world.

“I’m looking forward to reconnecting with people I worked with at Sensually Yours and letting them know about my new position,” said Zondre Watson, the buyer from Sexy Secrets. “And, with 22 stores, I’m looking to find new products to introduce to the buyers and store managers to help us stand out. I’m also looking forward to seeing what manufacturers’ plans are as we move beyond COVID and the new future will look like for retail through the summer and fall.”

Abigail Cabrera, the senior director of buying for Lovers Stores said that participating in the upcoming ANME/XBIZ will allow the company to reconnect with vendors, see the exciting developments in the industry, as well as  “source top quality products that the Lovers retail and digital customers expect,” she said.

“We are looking forward to the continued partnerships and to exploring new opportunities as we experience growth across our business and need to keep up with consumer demand,” Cabrera added.

ANME/XBIZ is the hub for establishing new deals and connections, as well as strengthening existing partnerships. Megan Swartz, the buyer from Deja Vu, Janra and Suzies Stores, says that she is looking forward to “ironing out deals with vendors we haven’t yet brought in and discussing opportunities for growth with vendors we are already working with.”

Eldorado’s Jon Vogt said that their buying team will use the ANME/XBIZ show to solidify its existing relationships with their partners as well as to explore the latest products on the market.

“We love seeing what’s new,” he said. “We are honored to be able to attend the show and see so many interesting products being introduced. We look forward to connecting with all the vendors to discuss their latest and greatest.”

Beyond business-to-business networking between vendors and buyers, ANME/XBIZ also welcomes qualified sex educators and qualified press, bloggers and social media influencers.

Due to limited space, vendors and buyers are encouraged to sign up before May 15 in order to secure their participation in the event.
