Nicole Doshi, Leo Vice Star in Groundbreaking Chinese-Language Series ‘Dream or Real’

LOS ANGELES — Nicole Doshi and Leo Vice star in the first episode of “Dream or Real,” a new series directed by Dr. K and shot in the U.S. entirely in Chinese.

“Dream or Real” co-stars the director, appearing under the name Louis Wu, as Doshi’s husband. His character witnesses the affair between his wife — who’s always looking for a new passion — and her lover Vice.

“Louis becomes aware of the sexual passion between Nicole and Leo, but chooses to bear everything silently in order to protect love,” Dr. K told XBIZ.

Dr. K has been producing English language scenes for his site Dr. K in LA. He described the pioneering scene as “perhaps the first all-Chinese language porn scene” aimed at the American industry, and certainly the first of its kind featuring major U.S.-based Asian talent.

“I believe most people in the current porn industry in the U.S. have never seen a scene completely in Chinese,” Dr. K added. “I hope to be the first with ‘Dream or Real’ and I hope this will allow more people to see the unique charm of Chinese performers and stories in porn.”

The bilingual Doshi, Vice and Wu performed the entire script in Mandarin.

“Nicole is one of the best talents now,” Dr. K enthused about the reigning XBIZ Best New Performer. “She comes from China and speaks great Mandarin. She’s also my good friend and one of the most passionate performers in the industry.”

Vice, he added, is “in great shape, of course” and perfectly fits the character the director envisioned for the title.

Helping Normalize Asian Sexuality

Dr. K explained that while porn is illegal in mainland China, an estimated hundreds of millions of viewers do watch adult content through what he calls “some special channels.”

“The more illegal, the more interesting, as they say,” Dr. K told XBIZ.

In Dr. K’s view, many Chinese viewers feel that U.S. porn “is very passionate but lacks storytelling. They feel that the bodies of American porn actors are very hot, but sometimes it is difficult for the audience to relate to them. That’s one of the reasons why I wanted to shoot ‘Dream or Real.’ I want Chinese audiences to see that someone like me, who works in the U.S. porn industry, can also shoot in the porn styles that Asians prefer.”

Doshi told XBIZ she was extremely honored to help Dr. K realize his first-ever movie in Mandarin.

“This was an experience I cannot forget,” she said. “It’s an absolute honor and privilege to be part of something so special and unique.”

Vice described the experience as “an absolute honor.”

“It was definitely something Dr. K was very excited about and his excitement was infectious,” Vice explained. “To be able to perform with Nicole Doshi was such a great treat for me. I only wish that my Chinese was better and that I was able to do more dialogue to help with the setup, but Dr. K made it really easy for me that day.”

Vice stressed that he hopes “Dream or Real” can “help normalize Asian sexuality and provide some great adult entertainment to a large demographic that seems mostly left out of the adult entertainment space. I know Taiwan is starting to grow their adult entertainment industry, but content here in the West created for an Asian audience is still vastly lacking, so it was nice and an honor to be a part of this project.”

“Dream or Real” is now available through the Dr. K in LA ManyVids page.

LOS ANGELES — Pleasure products sanitizer brand UVee is seeking a licensing partner.

“Economic conditions have created challenges for many small companies and we are no exception,” said Carrie Martz, founder of Clean Light Laboratories. “We have come to a deciding moment in our future of either expanding our product offerings, based on our extensive patents and innovation, or offering a licensing opportunity to a company already established in manufacturing with a multitude of distribution channels. We have chosen to focus on finding a licensing partner.”

Uvee manufactures sex toy sanitizing products using its patented Advanced Refractiom Technology.

“Consumers love our system,” Martz continued. “We are hopeful we can continue to offer it in a variety of sizes through a partnership. I am so proud of the solution we came to market with. A three-in-one, simple to use, locked storage system that charges toys and sanitizes at the same time — no one else can make this claim. Meta Debuts Twitter Competitor ‘Threads,’ Bans Female Nipples

Meta Debuts Twitter Competitor 'Threads,' Bans Female Nipples

MENLO PARK, Calif. — Merely a few hours after Meta’s launch of its Twitter-competitor app Threads, the head of Instagram confirmed that female nipples and everything else considered as “nudity” will not be allowed on the platform.

Answering an open query on Threads by pop tech journalist Taylor Lorenz, Instagram’s Adam Mosseri — a close collaborator of Meta’s owner Mark Zuckerberg — confirmed that the Instagram guidelines will also apply to the company’s new Twitter-like platform.

“Can women post nips on here?” Lorenz asked shortly after Threads’ launch.

“Nope, same community guidelines as Instagram,” Mosseri replied. “We don’t have any philosophical issues with nudity, we just can’t verify age or consent unfortunately, which makes it a safety issue.”

Mosseri’s candid reply providing a rationale for the controversial “no female nipple” policy is unusual for a high-level Meta exec.

As XBIZ reported, in January Meta’s own Oversight Board — a panel of experts selected by the company to deliberate on content decisions — released a decision recommending the company clarify arbitrary and vague definitions concerning nudity, sexual activity and sexual solicitation.

The Board ultimately found that the Sexual Solicitation Community Standard “contains overbroad criteria in the internal guidelines provided to reviewers. This poorly tailored guidance contributes to over-enforcement by reviewers and confusion for users. Meta acknowledged this, as it explained to the Board that applying its internal guidance could ‘lead to over-enforcement’ in cases where the criteria for implicit sexual solicitation are met but it is clear that there was ‘no intention to solicit sex.’”

Moreover, the fact that reviewers “repeatedly reached different outcomes about this content” suggested to the Board “a lack of clarity for moderators on what content should be considered sexual solicitation.”
